BUG Review
This brand new hostel is built on the site of the original Palace Backpackers Hostel, which burnt down in 2000. It is one of Australia's best workers' hostels and features a big open-plan common area with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, pool table and TV lounge plus another smaller kitchen, dining and TV area upstairs. Accommodation is of a very high standard with air conditioned dorms and spotless bathrooms. It caters mostly to travellers on a working holiday and provides free transport to work. At the front of the hostel there is a tourist information centre, art gallery and a memorial to the 15 backpackers that died in the fire.
