BUG Review
This tiny hostel is in a house with just a few small dorm rooms. It is nestled in overgrown gardens and offers comfortable, laid-back accommodation. There is just a small kitchen and outdoor balcony area to lounge in hammocks. The bathrooms are clean enough and the dorms are nicely decorated. The owner organises eco-tours and is very knowledgeable and helpful in planning excursions to Fraser Island. Guests love it here for the charm and good vibe.

Mango Hostel has always been a special place where a homestyle atmosphere and a taste of the local life is emphasized. The people that run the hostel really cater for the serious traveller and more mature people. They are very passionate about travel advise, mainly regarding Fraser Island. The owner has had many years experience with Buswalking options and all tours with exciting transfers to and from the island for all levels of enthusiasm and fitness. The hostel is situated 200m from Hervey Bays beachfront with shops and bars. You always get a good description of whats nice to do or eat around the area.

After a complete renovation recently the house has even more security, character and comfort. Gardens are lush and tropical with verandah and deck area, a perfect place to watch the amazing bat flyover every evening, millions!!!

The owners have some good contact with some local people with yatchs, planes, kayaks, vehicles and knowledge of the unvisited reef, island and outback areas. It's getting harder to find out about these things, because attractively priced package tour options are trapping people into the mainstream before they really begin.
