We had an excellent time here. Dave & Dave are so relaxed and friendly, it was a breath of fresh air! We hired cheap bikes for the day from the hostel and saw mission beach fully. The hostel do advise you on tours and can book them for you, but they don't try and push or sell to you which was nice. In the evenings, they get a bonfire going and everybody chills out together drinking and chatting, playing music. The only hic-up for me was the toilets could have been cleaner but I know when we were there they were starting to do up the hostel and re-paint it, clean it ect So I think this hostel will be brilliant when it's finished!!!!!!

The welcome we got from the guy picking us up from the bus station (30 seconds down the road from the hostel) was a nice surprise and we felt very welcome. The atmosphere in the place was great. The kitchen was open plan with lots of space to move about. Our room had a sink and the bed was comfy. Nice place!

YOU WILL LOVE IT ,WE STAYED AT MOST OF THE OTHER HOSTELS AT MISSION BEACH AND THIS ONE IS THE BEST OF ALL. IT HAS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE ,FACILITIES AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE. IT IS LOCATED IN A SMALL RAINFOREST AND EVERYTHING IS SO CLOSE INCLUDING THE BEACH. WE DON'T THINK THE LAST REVIEWER STAYED AT THE SAME PLACE AS HIS COMMENTS SOUND LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER BACKPACKER/HOSTELS IN TOWN .KEEP AWAY FROM "SCOTTYS" - AN OLD MOTEL, "TREEHOUSE" - TOO FAR AWAY FROM EVERYTHING AND NO TRANSPORT OR SHOPS AND LASTLY "MISSION BEACH RESORT" - EXPENSIVE ,FULL OF FAMILIES AND RUDE STAFF. WE CAN NOT WAIT TO COME BACK TO "THE LODGE" AS THEY CALL IT, ---- ITS THE BEST.----

This hostel is really dirty and run down and has flea-ridden dogs swimming in the pool. The kitchen in filthy and there were cockroaches EVERYWHERE. Do not go there!

If there is a paradise on this planet, here it is. Started with 3 night and ended 3,5 months!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is excellent about this hostel. The whole ground floor is 1 big social area. And (because of an other message) never saw a single bedbug. It´s all about relaxing, chilling and everything is ´too easy´. I did some working arround that place and believe me. I´ll be back. Because the only rule there is: Do not forget to relax.

I stayed at the MBPL two years ago, and it was the only place I've been to that felt like a home from home. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and I met people who I class now as my closest friends. The Lodge represents what Mission Beach is - relaxed, laid back and pure fun. I will always have very fond memories.

We stayed for two nights at this hostel, and believe me it felt like a lifetime. The first thing that is noticable is the overpowering smell of damp in the very unclean rooms.

The second thing that we unfortunately experienced were the bed bugs!!! My husband was covered in bites.

I am afraid I can find no redeeming qualities in this hostel and have only one concluding word: AVOID!
