The hostel is a good place that is clean. Good beds, bathrooms, and Kitchen. The staff is nice and the pool in nice as well. The only problem with the location is that Mt. Isa isn't too entertaining. There are no good bars. The Switchers nightclub is closed down. The Irish bar is ok but make sure that when you go it's not members night or you won't get in. Buffs is a crappy casino looking place full of many forty somethings, That's ok b/c they have to drink too. Like I said, the hostel is good but the town sucks.

The hostel is a good place that's clean. The pool is nice and the beds and bathrooms were clean. The staff is nice and will pick you up from the bus station. A dorm room is $20 and it's only $23 for a twin room. The internet is kind of slow but hey that's life. The town has no bar scene whatsoever. The main place is called the Irish club. They wouldn't let me in b/c they said it was members night. I'm not even a dirty hippie looking person either. The other place in town is called Buffs and it's a cheezy casino place full of age 40 plus people. The club switchers is now closed. So basically you can try the Irish club. Maybe you'll be able to get in as a non member. Good luck.

Mount Isa is a hell of a town, literally. Looming large over the towns skyline is the giant chimney betraying Mt Isa's industrial dependence. This hostel is about 10 minutes walk from the town centre, where there is a mcdonalds, a cinema showing 6 month old films and a preposterously priced email facility ($12 an hour). Facilities at the hostel are unspectacular, and the atmosphere reminded me of an old folks home. Only stop there to make break up the trek between NT and Townsville.
