BUG Review
This hostel is in the quiet residential area of Noosaville. It successfully combines a mild party atmosphere with a relaxed and clean daytime hangout. With its own bar and a palm-fringed restaurant that fills nightly, guests get a chance to mingle with the locals and socialise well into the night. The dorms all have en suite kitchen facilities, though everyone uses the large hostel kitchen. The bathrooms are sparkling clean. There is also a nice swimming pool plus a barbecue and table tennis. Internet, including Wi-Fi, is $4 per hour, and there is a good tour desk. Guests have free use of bicycles, body boards, surfboards, and kayaks. Reception staff are fun and helpful. If only they had better security.

Worth a visit, July 12, 2006

This hostel is great if you`re looking to get away from it all for a bit. The pickup from Noosa Heads was fine and the driver even took us to see some local Koala`s and a view over Noosa before we headed to the Hostel.

Its quite a distance, about 10 mins drive and you have to take a ferry at one point.

The rooms were large and spacious. We were in a 4 bed dorm room, but had it to ourselves. For every 8 beds, there is a well maintained kitchen, lounge and TV etc.

There`s a nice pool outside, and the cafe and bar are great and pretty cheap. You`re not going to get into Noosa by foot though, so arrange with the staff if you`re heading into town. Theres a couple of nice empty beaches about 10 mins walk from the hostel.

The main bonus for me was the Kangaroo`s which inhabit the resort. They come right up to your door and seem to take very well to the tourists.

Overall, this is more like a holiday resort than a backpackers place, and you feel a bit isolated. But then there`s no noisy pubs/drunk backpackers to keep you up all night, so you just chill.

Like others Hostel not near town, bus stop (note for coach pick up as aus exp dont wait). Very friendly

Lovelly place with cafe, in and outdoor cooking area, nice deck and outdoor deck with canoes for the estury just at the end of the short road.

Note for Noosa... Good base for Croc Hunter Zoo, with Kite surfing in the area...

BUT THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT...

DON'T GO WALKIES ANYWHERE (IE PISSED IN PUB ON WAY HOME, or for a shag) off the tracks without checking the area carefully...

Lots of RED TRIANGLE signs normally associated with LAND MINES!!!!! only in this case unexploded ship to shore WW2 shells they aint cleared since was used for target practice in WW2... So a quick bang in the bushes with the fit guy/girl you pulled could really end with a bang!!!!

THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!!

Free shuttle every half hour into Noosa and free pickup from bus station. Our double room was a little basic, with just a fan, and it was boiling hot. Shower was across the hall and clean enough. On-site bar with Eric the barman was fun and cheap. Restaurant at the front did nice food but we had a bad experience whereby they seemed to forget our order and we had about an hour waiting for our food. Funky hostel with cheap internet access, a little pool and lots and lots of sitting areas. Good value and good fun.

Down the road. kayak carrying distance from the river to take out the free kyaks and nice open layout.

Nice place to chill out and friendly.

Don't worry about being near nightlife... the only nightlife was at the koala bar at koala hostel...they take you there...

But to get a taxi back stay soberish...

Noosa can be a lethal place in a way you wouldn't believe...

Lots of red triangle warning signs where you may want to take a short cut or bush walk...

To those who have not been to Vietnam and cambodia etc these are normally associated with

LANDMINES!!!!!!! as in the kind that blow you to bloody bits.

only here it is

UNEXPLODED WW2 SHIP TO SHORE ARTILLERY SHELLS!!!!!...

most unstable where it was used for target practice.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE OR BULLSHIT!!!

Noosa is a good base for Steve Irwins zoo (book the take a tiger walkies activity before you get there as its done before opening)... Kite surfing is in the area too and a bomb free national park walk area but TAKE A MAP and make sure you know where you are and sober.

Nice, friendly staff especially Mickey D. The dorms are nice and clean and big. Two four bed dorms share a kitchen and living room. Loads of activities to do and some are free if you stay more than one night. A great place to chill out. MAybe a bit quiet for some but we absolutley loved the place. The best hostel we stayed in. We booked up for 2 nights and ended up staying an extra 4.

We arrived after reception was closed and were told to go to the bar to be let in to our room. The bartender reacted as if he had little clue that we were coming even though I had reminded reception several days prior of our arrival date and time. Finally he signaled to some guy drinking beers to show us our room. The man did not show us where the bathrooms were or ask us if we had any questions or the like. It was pretty frustrating. No towels provided either. On the bright side, we were allowed to use the showers on the day we checked out. I would check out a different spot next time.

This place could be a great hostel but so many things are wrong! It is really far away from Hastings Street and the fun stuff, the courtesy bus only runs once an hour. I stayed in a room that was essentially a 12 bed garage. Even though it was a 6 bed dorm, the wall dividing this room and the one next to it was not a full wall so you could hear everything in the next 6 bed dorm, plus the wall didn't go to the ceiling between the room and the hallway, so I could see the green exit sign all night, plus hear everything in the bathroom. Also, there is a deposit for a blanket! Should be included. Laundry may not be used in the morning. In short, this place is just baaaad. I stayed at the Halse Lodge YHA for 3 nights and it is much, much better.

What a Lay Back classy place this was. Sat at the wicked courtyard bar at night and met some ace punters. Got a great feed from the cafe out the front and stayed much longer than anticipated. Atmosphere was the first thing that comes to mind and the place is spotless with plenty of room in the air conditioned dorms.Spoke to a heap of travellers who all loved this hostel. Best hostel in Oz. Special thanks to all the great staff. I will be back.

This was a nice looking backpackers with good outdoor seating and a fairly spacious kitchen, the free kayaks were great seeing the Noosa River was basically out in the street. It was a little noisy on one night, and it was probably 45 mins walk into town (I didn't bother walking it) but there was a courtesy bus every hour so that was alright.

I woke up one morning with a few sandfly bites which I've never had in a hostel before, but that wasn't a major problem.

Overall it was very pleasant, and drinks from the bar and reception were fairly cheap. I loved the local Eumundi beer, and the girl on reception was cute.

I stayed here just 2 nights while looking to chill out before hitting Fraser Island. I quite liked the hostel. The rooms were very good. The one I was in had 6 beds but was very spacious. There was ensuite bathroom, what looked like an out of use kitchen area, and out the back of the room was like a little courtyard with chairs and tables. The staff were a friendly bunch, but I don't remember all the facilities mentioned in the advert. Maybe I just never found them. The cafe out front is ok, but not exactly cheap. It seemed apart from the kitchen that the only place to relax was outside - and it rained both days I was there.
