BUG Review
This hostel is quite far from the beach, but still has a surfer vibe to it. The aqua green building is built around a sunny courtyard with hammocks. It has an onsite shop to buy groceries and toiletries, a café, a bamboo and tin bar, and a huge cinema room with funky couches and an underwater mural on the walls. Outside under a tin and palm leaf roof, there is another TV lounge popular with guests. They offer nightly activities including bar crawls. The dorms could do with a through renovation, though, and the bathrooms are quite dirty.

if you are offered a job here dont take it, the manangement treat you like a slave & expect you to work far to many hours for one nights free accomodation. The hostel itself is a really boring place unless you are lucky enough to have great room mates. But who wants to chance that? Staying here on your own with boring roommates would make anyone reach for the phone number of the Samaratins. Some of the staff who work here, not mentioning any names. thay are experts in false advertisment all of the stuf they say you can do you cant, the bar/movie room opens at 17:30 so no movies in day time only at night when it is supposed to be a bar, which means the atmosphere is fuckt, my advice to them is make an independet movie room and let the bar be a bar and please put on some dam music . stayed a week but only because of the people that i meet in the hostel.. PS. NO REFUNDS

Don't listen to some of the other comments about this hostle, it's the best one i've stayed in since being in Australia and i've been travelling for 5 months!! Everyone at the hostel is really friendly and there's such a good atmosphere. If you enjoy a night out you'll love the hostle because they have things set up every night. There's a cute bar, lovely pool area etc. and the hostle is just 5 minutes walk from all the shops, clubs and the beach. i highly recommend this hostle!!!!

stayed in the hostel for 2 weeks, the reception staff were not nice ,thought very highly of themselves felt like u were botherin them wen asking a question. bar was only open for 5 hours a night & the staff were wanderin about so it was hard to get a drink. couldnt bring in your own alcohol for wen bar closed. the kitchen was filthy with very little utensils, n limited working hobs. there was no tv room only tv in bar which u could only watch wen bar was open n bar staff chose what to watch, so theres no hope of seein the news to see whats going on in the world. rooms are nice, ensuite.

Backpackers don't go there. It's the worst hostel ever. I stayed there for a week over the new year and got my bag stolen from my room. The only thing that made me like the hostel was the barman (flash) He was cool and funny. The manager there is useless, he cares about 1 thing and 1 thing only, the money. We had to pay a compulsary fee just to eat for xmas, even if you didn't want to eat there food. ***EDITED TO COMPLY WITH BUG'S REVIEW GUIDELINES*** My advise to backpackers is don't stay there, for the same price just go to Sleeping Inn which is 50 yards down the road and has TV in every room and ensuite. Staff are so much friendly there and ***EDITED TO COMPLY WITH BUG'S REVIEW GUIDELINES***.

Complete crap; Double bookings, Wet & smelly carpet, Disgusting bathrooms with mould everywhere.

The management obvisouly only care about lining their pockets.

In the time that we stayed numerous people arrived to find they had been double booked, some had to even find somewhere else to stay after having come from over seas.

I also know of at least two groups who arrived and found the place so appauling that the didnt even stay one night.

Plus most of the staff are real pricks.

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. If i could give less than one star i would.

I stayed here for a week and it is the worse place i have ever stayed in.

There was water dripping from the lights, the room absolutely stank, the bathroom was constantly flooded and mould everywhere and lastly the room was infested with ants!!!

You could not leave any food in your room as within a day it would be covered in ants. I brought some bread left it in my room for a couple of hours and when i came back the whole bag of bread was filled with ants!

When i arrived in surfers paradise i called them to ask them if they could pick me up from the Transit centre (as they are meant to offer free pick up) they told me sorry i had to walk there. Even though it was about 10 minutes down the road, it was hassle especially with two bags and a surf board!

My advise to anyone who is considering to stay here is dont go!!!

This place is not great at all, compared to other hostels in Surfers! It's so dirty, the kitchen is cramped and the bathrooms stink. The good things are the cosy courtyard and that every room have lockers and bathroom.

Sleeping Inn for the same price is just a few houses further and it's so much better!

I have to say that Backpackers in Paradise is one of, if not the best hostel I've stayed in in OZ. I have been traveling OZ for the past 8 months and started my trip there....8 months later I returned because I absolutely loved it!!! The staff there are so friendly and always willing to help out. The hostel is so cool, it has a massive pool and even a cinema room with different movies on every day. Never a dull moment in the hostel, there's aboriginal art to do, swimming, play pool or even just haging out with the people there. If you go to Surfers...definitely stay there!
