BUG Review
This is a friendly place with a good bar and outside common area. They have a great barbecue every night and the swimming pool is nice. Bathrooms have just been redone, but the dorms are sparse and poorly-maintained. They offer free airport pickup. There are video games, a pool table and table football available in the bar. Staff are very friendly and interesting. It is not a big party hostel, so you will get a good night's sleep here.

I found this place to be the w orst hostel I have stayed in since I came to Oz! The rooms were extremely basic and there were bugs crawling around the bed...not to mention the sheets that smelt like smokey bacon crisps!! The bathrooms were never clean and the showers kept flooding. Although there was a bar there was no other communal area were you could just chill out and while I was there the pigeons used the kitchen as their bathroom! The staff were terribly unfriendly, if you were not part of their "gang" then they didn't talk to you.

Me and my friend had the best time at Cheers because of the fab group of people we met! The staff were great- as soon as we'd walked in they'd already got us to agree to stay longer to do the club crawl (hilarious!). SO friendly and such party-goers, I miss them so much! JP, Brad, Arthur, Pauly, Jonny, Liam, Rosco... Hilarious group of people, and most of them are still there! You'll be knackered when you leave, but do it- do it now!!

I came to Cheers after 3 weeks in Australia! i thought i had been living the high life until i got here! they were right when they said Surfers is the party capital Queensland! the staff and reps at cheers made extra effort to make you feel at home, make sure you have fun and make sure your happy, what more could you ask for???? i stayed 4 weeks and will remember every day as one of the best of my Journey, the pool comps every night were a great way for me to get a bar tab (my liver thanks you!) and the cheap BBQ's every night gave my stomach the perfect lining for the nights out ( going out clubbing every night, i didnt think i would be able to do it, but i did) as for cleanlyness, facilities and conditions ive got no complaints, its a hostel not the Ritz! if you dont want to rough it dont come travelling stay at home and let mummy look after you and let the rest of us have the fun! ive already recommended cheers to people ive met and they've also had the time of their lives (although they had more will power than me and managed to leave after the 3 or 4 days they booked in for) Thanks again to all the staff you guys Rock!

Thankfully i only stayed here for one night. The room was absolutely stinking! and the sheets stained (with god only knows what!). I was also itching all night, so im pretty sure there were bugs in the matress. The showers were in individual blocks with a toilet in each, and were situated beside the bar. This meant that piss heads had access to the toilets (which resulted in pee over the floor) at the same time as those who simply wanted a wash! Rank! I would not advise anyone to stay here.

I have no idea why this hostel has been awarded 5 stars. It is definitely has to be one of the worst I've stayed in yet. The rooms are small, dark and dingy. The mattresses are practically non existant and the 'clean bed linen' stinks. There is no air conditioning or ceiling fans. On the day we arrived loads of the staff had walked out so there was no driver to pick us up and we had to pay for a taxi. The toilets are disgusting.

The only positive thing I can say is that the staff (that were left) were very friendly.

Let me tell you i will never forget the experience i just recently had at Cheers! Everynoe, especially the staff there were fantastic, the atmosphere created by all was out there and everyone was made to feel welcome... The social scene is what most ppl travel for and remember once they have left a place and it was such a shame to leave after meeting so many party hard ppl who loved to have a laugh, always had time for everyone and made my new years the best one i ahve had for ages... thanx guys will miss you all

Cheers was great! Everyone was super nice and the night life in Surfer's was so good. I like that the hostel makes an effort to get everyone out partying and has a super friendly atmosphere. The facilities were good too, everything you need is there and there were no rats I dont know what that guy is talking about :)

I think that hearing all those old reviews from two years ago Cheers has changed ten fold.. I had one of the most enjoyable times ever in Cheers , I was meant to stay a couple of days and stayed for three weeks. It has just under gone a new shower and toilet refurb and the bar has got Draught beer the only hostel in Surfers to have that. All the staff were amazing and made sure that I had a great time, I hope that the old reviews don't deter people as Cheers was amazing the place is set up for you to enjoy Surfers nightlife and warm weather and that it does. If you want to stay at the Hilton do that and pay $200 per night . Thanks GUYS for an amazing time..
