BUG Review
The Savoy is another workers' hostel, but it is the cleanest one in town. Dorms are spacious with a fresh coat of sky blue paint and clean beds. It is in a well maintained old cane farmer's building, with a cool loft common area. There is a large, clean kitchen; a very cosy TV lounge with big pillows and a big couch lining the walls plus a laundry, a swimming pool and barbecue, and in a refreshing stroke of genius, a boot room for the workers' dirty shoes. Why other places don't do that, we don't know. They also have internet access and free use of body boards (although there's no surf to use them in Tully).

Price
Dorm bed $20 per night, $120 per week
Double room $40 per night, $250 per week

Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

Get ready to que for everything, toilets, cold showers, food, kitchen sink, proper beds etc.. This place has a real problem in telling you that the hostel is so full of backpackers you have to sleep in the attic with another 20 odd people. That wouldn't be too bad if not for the fact that the roof is on stilts and you are exposed to all the elements that the wetest place in oz has to offer. On the bright side the staff are helpfull, but they tend to do nothing when your beer/food/drink gets stolen, and it will if you stay for any length of time. Bring a sleeping bag!

This has got to be the most fun I have had with my clothes on!!! I came here to work for 3 weeks and ended up staying 5 months. The staff are so friendly, the kitchen, pool and rooms always clean and there is always a smile to greet you as you get in from work. If you stay here you must go to the top pub for karaoke, irish dancing and limbo competitions on a thursday night, then to rafters night club on a friday and then for a late night skinny dip in the pool on saturdays. (Andy I know that was you who gave the bad review, just ignore him, he was a skanky thief who got evicted) The work may be a bit boring (But what fruit picking work isnt?) But all the fun here makes it worth while. The owners and staff are terrific, make you feel like one of the family, well I practically was. well enough about my time there, get there and see for yourself. XXX

while making my way down the east coast of oz a few years ago i stoped in tully for a few weeks to pick up a bit of work.i found the savoy a laidback place the staff were very friendly and their pumpkin soup was somethiing to die for. id definitly recomend it to anyone who is seeking work and tully itself i found a bit rough and ready but it still had a touch of charm about it.

Although a quaint little hostel, the staff left a lot to be desired at times (read: down right rude )

Although there was no mention of their preferance for international travellers on any of the brochures, we soon found out to our dismay ( i am Australian - travelling )

go elsewhere guys and girls
