I've been traveling all around Australia last year. I have been to several hostels in major cities but Blue Galah goes beyond imagination...

It's the dirtiest place I've ever been.

In the extremely dirty toilets USED toilet paper was swirling around, the kitchen had probably been cleaned centuries ago, the rooms were small and smelly and it was loud. The terrace looks like the setting of the movie 'The Day After' AFTER the nuclear explosions.

Absolutely a NO!

Big hostel, tiny rooms, April 9, 2007
Reviewer: Cansaspara from the Netherlands

Pros: in city centre, big kitchen, clean
Cons: very, very small rooms and very noisy

The is a reasonable big hostel, but the rooms a very small. If all the 8 beds are full, there is no place to put your stuff. The rooms are also very noisy. They do have a big kitchen and the hostel is situated in the midst of all the cafes and shops.

Although they have lots of facilities I wouldn't stay here again. They put the price up to 35 dollars, because of the Ashes (ridiculous) and I felt really uncomfortable in the crowded rooms.

Clean and close to city centre, August 12, 2006
Reviewer: Jabe from UK

Pros: Clean, close to city centre
Cons: Common room seemed to focus on TV

I stayed here twice , both times for stopovers, as it was close to the city centre. The staff were friendly (one was also cute :-)) and the place was well-maintained. With only being there for a short stay each time, I didn't go out of my way to chat with the other residents, but the common room seemed to always have the TV on with people glued to it.

Would definitely stay here again.
