BUG Review
Hostel 109 is a small, comfortable and perfectly clean hostel with good facilities and bright common areas. The neat and tidy small dormitories have good inner-spring mattresses, the kitchen is equipped with all the necessary utensils and the TV lounge is comfortable. There is a separate work-space with a desk and a couple of computers with free internet access (including Wi-Fi). The hostel’s atmosphere is relaxed and mature.
Price Dorm bed $25 Single room $55 Double room $70 Twin room $60 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Clean, quiet yet sociable. Malcolm is the BEST!
Cons:
Hmmm... no bedside lamps. That's it.

Hostel 109 was truly the best hostel experience I've ever had. Excellent location just 5 minutes walk from Victoria Sq and the Central Market, and a short 15 minute stroll up to North Tc. and the sights. It's clean clean clean, and the beds are really comfy. It's not a loud party hostel, but the residents are really chatty and sociable. Not only is there free internet, but there are enough computers that there's almost always one free (and you never have to rush because there are people waiting). There's free coffee, tea and sugar in the kitchen, and free spot remover and laundry detergent by the washer. The only thing I found myself wishing for was for (clip-on?) lamps by the beds so as not to have to turn on the overhead when people were sleeping. And if that's the worst that can be said about the place, they're doing a great job. But by far the hostel's best selling point is Malcolm! You really get the sense that running this hostel is not just a job but a labor of love for him. He organizes (and participates in!) fun outings, recommends the best places to go, and is always up for a friendly chat! I'm afraid Malcolm and his friendly staff have spoiled me for other hostels.
Pros:
Close to every thing great managment
Cons:
No complaints

What Can I say brilliant comfortable clean, Management (Malcolm) was of great help and welcoming, every thing was in walking distance, I was not intending to stay long in Adelaide, but the couple days I stayed here was sensational, would highly recommend this place to stay, it doesn’t have the atmosphere that you get in older large dorm style hostel, but was peace full, if looking for cheap good meal you couldn’t go past managements recommendation at the Astor hotel, great meal and drinks

This really was the best hostel I have stayed in during my trip. Its clean, modern and frindly with a real home like feel. The guys who run it couldnt do more to make you feel at home and do everything they can to ensure your happy in your room and with the hostel. Also the free internet is unlimited, there was never a que for it during my stay and the showers are great. This is a fantastic hostel - STAY THERE!!!!!!!!!

I was ultimately glad when I couldn't get into my first or second choice hostel because Hostel 109 has definitely been a favourite from my six months' travel. The owners, Debra and Malcolm, were genuinely friendly and helpful. I wondered why I'd not heard of the place before, and Malcolm explained that when they started out they were planning to advertise but were advised to blow their entire budget on cleaning, which is what they did! And it really shows too. The rooms and facilities are lovely and clean, and the showers are great. When I got to Adelaide I wasn't sure where I was going to head next or by what means, and the free Internet proved an absolute godsend. I dread to think how many hours I was online checking out tours and options, but I doubt the rest of my time in Australia would have been so good if I'd not had that facility available.Even though I found I didn't have time to go everywhere I wanted, I actually considered returning to Hostel 109 just because I had such a good time there; in fact, someone I was travelling with actually did return there, all the way from Darwin!
