BUG Review
Barmera Backpackers is a basic hostel near the centre of town. Facilities are limited to a small TV lounge; a small, but fully-equipped, kitchen and a barren outdoor area with a barbecue and a rather sad looking table tennis table. It feels a bit neglected and the bland looking buildings don’t do much to create any atmosphere.

Price
Dorm bed $25 per night, $130 per week
Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

I went to Barmera YHA Backpacker during my 6 months trip to Australia and this was probably the worst place to stay. First I made a reservation when I was at Adelaide's YHA, but when I arrived in Barmera, the owner, Mark, told me "you have not paid for your reservation "(I made it in Adelaide at the YHA and paid for it). After arguing I finally got my bed and had not to pay again. This was the first time he wanted to swindle me. Then, I asked for working as I was running out of money and went to Barmera for working. I had to wait for one week to have a job ( every days he said "tomorrow I have a job for you", but nothing). When I asked to the others who were there before, they told me the same, that they had to wait for at least one week to get something. Then I finally got a job, but the farmer gave the money to Mark and not to me, this was cash money with no tax file number if you see what I mean. Mark told me "I 'll give you everything when you leave, this is a guarantee for the bed". So I worked hard for two months and thinking I was saving money... But when I leaved, I only had 200 bucks !!! He kept almost everything, said "you have to pay for... you have to pay for ..." I even had to pay to keep my food in the kitchen, for the old tool he lent me to pick up grappes ... This guy is really a THIEF, AVOID TO GO THERE !!!!!!!!!

When I argued to get my money he said "I don't understand what you say, you speak bad english, I don't know what you mean " and kicked me out the hostel and told me to take the bus to get away from Barmera.

So if you want to be swindled and work for nothing go there !!!!!

ps/ Sorry if my english is not perfect but this is not my mother tongue
