BUG Review
This rustic hostel has basic facilities including a fridge, stove, heating, cold water showers and a pit toilet. However it has an idyllic location overlooking a secluded cove, which ensures that it is often full and bookings are essential. In fact it is so popular in summer that a ballot system applies for bookings between 15 December and 15 February. To apply for the ballot you must register with YHA Tasmania on (03) 6234 9617 before mid-September to register for accommodation the following summer. During this period you can only book an entire five-bed room, but dorm beds are available throughout the rest of the year.

Price
Five-bed dorm $50 (15 Dec-15 Feb)
Dorm bed $10 (rest of year)

Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

The hostel was one of the most run down hostels I've visited in Australia. There was a permanent smell, the bathrooms were in desperate need of renovation and a good clean and the facilities are limited. My advice to anyone planning on going to Freycinet...stay anywhere but Coles Bay YHA. The area is so beautiful that its a shame to ruin even a moment of your stay. Why not try Swansea or Bicheno, and commute to the National Park from there?

Clean washrooms with plenty of hot water. Full kitchen facilities but that was all. Nothing else to recommend it. We would try the YHA next time
