We planned to visit the Freycinet National Park (particularly the Wineglass Bay) and was trying to look for budget accommodation. We had no choice - the other YHA doesn't even have hot water system and other accommodation were costly. We chose to stay at Iluka Holiday Centre. This holiday centre is both a motel (cottages for those who can afford more luxury accommodation) and a YHA (for poor chaps like us). When we checked-in, we were surprised that we were given one sheet thing for each person. (By the way, some staff at reception wasn't too nice - because we were living at YHA I guess?)The environment was quite relaxing - not packed, not crowded. As a holiday centre, it does have a laundry which is handy. But inside the YHA centre, things are quite plain and basic. Its common room brought us back to the old days - Pentium computers running at turtle speed, TV which every channel has its own knob to push [it must be 20 years old I reckon]. There were not many books or magazines to read, and no sofas too.The kitchen was better - a big commercial-grade fridge, everything's clean and tidy. My review has been ok so far, until...Cover sheets - for a number of hostels that I stayed in Tasmania, they all provided new pillow case, quilt sheet or sometimes even bed sheet. Iluka is the only exception - they only gave us one piece of cloth acting as a sleeping bag, but it was so small that my size 6 female friend couldn't wrap herself up from those potentially dirty quilt/bed/pillow. Beds - definitely the worst among all YHAs we visited. They used cheap futon beds which were so soft. In the morning when I woke up, my body shape was molded by the bed! Conclusion: If you can stand bad futon bed and a small cloth as a 'sleeping bag', Iluka YHA is a place for you. But if you prefer a fairly nice bed, pay more and stay at somewhere else.

situated just before the Freycinet national park entrance, but you need a car though to go there. quiet hostel, was there in April and it wasn't full. big kitchen, large showers, beds ok, tv room... a bit old-fashioned and not spotlessly clean, but when you go hiking, you're too tired to really pay attention to it!Coles Bay is a really small village, but with all the facilities required (petrol, food...). don't miss Wineglass Bay!!!

It's in a large Caravan Park just behind Coles Beach, (great for swimming) and their is a supermarket, cafe, resturant and pub, all within a 50 yds of the hostel. Plenty of space in hostel and keys to all rooms, largest dorms are 4 bed.Beware it gets busy, I wanted to stay 3 nights but had to check out the 2nd night and back in on the third as fully booked. It's quite a long way away from the walks in the NP and transport would def be an advantage, as I didn't see any public transport, although hithching would be quite easy as so many people travel up an down the main road to the Park
