It's on the main road about mid-way between the centre of Daylesford and the spa at Hepburn Springs.

A relaxed place to use as a base to explore Spa country, September 27, 2006
Reviewer: Regent Honeyeater from Canberra

Pros: A groovy kitchen and a country town atmosphere
Cons: The place feels like a work in progress

Wildwood is a nice, neat hostel but it's not in the same league as the newer eco hostels. It is however superb value compared with the BNB standard price range for the Spa district. This region is full of high cost, high real estate priced week-endenders for well off Melbournites (like the Blue Mountains is for Sydneysiders). The Hepburn Spa is why people visit, as well as the wineries and the popular Convent Gallery arts centre and the town has a distinct hippy, alternative feel to it. Try not to take long showers, the water supply was in severe drought when I passed through. The security features aren't great here so take care of your personal goods. Enjoy the kitchen & deck: often lovely native parrots come to check out the visitors.

Our family stayed in a triple here and we were really impressed. Although the comments about mismatched linen etc. are probably right we found all the critical stuff good - it was clean and comfortable. Daylesford is a great place in the winter months and this accommodation, unlike the pleasant but less atmospheric motels in Daylesford, had an open wood fire in the lounge and a combustion heater in the kitchen. It has the really nice old style small hotel feel about the place. It is well located on the Hepburn Springs Road. We are going back to stay again with friends.
