BUG Review
This flash new hostel offers an exceptional standard of accommodation with air-conditioned rooms with en suite bathrooms and comfortable mattresses and 'Sanctuary', a girls-only level with hair dryers in the rooms and complimentary hair care packs. Shared facilities include a basement kitchen and TV lounge plus the urban-hip Red Eye bar. It's in a striking designer building clad in shiny red perspex and despite the corporate image it manages to maintain a pretty good atmosphere.

Base is a complete party hostel. It has a bar that is always packed, and does quite cheap drinks. Despite having a bar, it isn't very noisy upstairs, so you still manage to get some sleep.

The rooms are large and spacious and the bathrooms are ensuite, with a power shower! This is good if you need the toilet in the middle of the night, as you don't have to venture far, but not good if you are in a dorm with 7 other people.

Everywhere is clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about this hostel is the kitchen. It was always packed, and nobody seemed to clean up after themselves.

However, this hostel is right on the beach, and there's not much you can complain about.

I arrived at the hostel and first impresion was very good. Looks nice from the outside. When i got inside it was all nice, neat and tidy. reception staff were welcoming and friendley and gave a great first impresion. I was given the key to my room and when i arrived it was very nice, it was clean and tidy and very cool in the room. The beds were comfy and very clean. the location was great just a few minutes from the beach and a few minutes from the tram to melbourne. there were also very good bars near as well which made the trip enjoyable. The only downside of the whole time i was there was in the morning outside the window there were prostitutes working.
