The Oslo Hotel is a basic hostel with lower standards than the other places in St Kilda. It has brand new bathrooms and a nice TV lounge and Internet room near the reception, but the rest of the hostel has a drab old-fashioned feel with old second-hand furnishings.

This hostel is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. We stayed here for two nights because it was the final of the Aussie Rules Football and we couldn't get anywhere else. It is very basic and rundown, and I don't think anything was clean. It's the type of place where you walk in and don't want to touch anything, you just want to leave. The walls were probably white once upon a time, but now they are yellow. The sheets are also a yellowish colour. There didn't seem to be many people about, although not surprising really. There is a common area, but we didn't stick around to see what it was like. It was a case of dump your stuff and spend as little time as possible there. The kitchen is average size, but hardly has any dishes, and again everything was dirty. Even the location wasn't very good. It seems to be in the middle of Melbournes 'Red Light District.' As soon as it got dark, there was a prostitute on every corner. If you are a girl on your own, I wouldn't go near this street. We got stopped by cars and curb crawled on more than one occasion.I would not recommend this hostel to my worst enemy.
