BUG Review
This resort offers clean and well maintained dormitories for low-budget travellers. The resort has very good facilities that include usual kitchen, laundry, TV and internet access plus a swimming pool, spa pool and a tennis court. There is also a bar that serves food at surprisingly decent prices. Its absolute beachfront location outshines most places in Western Australia and you can walk right up to see the dolphins. Overall this is a very nice place to stay although some travellers may find it too big and impersonal.

This was a fairly good hostel. The kitchen was well secured, none of our food was taken, and it has a wonderful atmosphere! The pub offers a chance to meet other travellers, and there was a live band with dancing. Also organized a beach bonfire after the band finished. Reasonably quiet after the bar closed, but if you are looking for an early night sleep, you might request a room further from the kitchen and bar. Pool was very clean. For the most part, bedrooms were clean, except when we woke in the morning, there were ants on our dresser. Could use a bit of rennovating as well. Shower was bad, not seperated from the rest of bathroom, so water went everywhere and you had to mop it up after your showere. However, there are seperate bathrooms with multiple showers and toilets to use when the attached one isn't suitable. Thanks to the great atmosphere here, I had a wonderful time.

We hired a little caravan for one night, and it was super! it could sleep 6 people, and it was just lovely! Monkey Mia is a must for any visitor to Western Australia. A nice secluded place, 50km from the main coastal highway! Theres a nice little cafe/bar for all your hunger/thirst needs. It did the job for us. Ermmmmm, Oh yeah, you get to see people feed dolphins at this place too, which is nice, although I overslept and missed it. But overall I could of lived in that caravan forever, as long as episodes of Coronation Street were sent out to me on a monthly basis! Jobs A Gud'un!

We took the double room at the Monkey Mia YHA. They were campervans, 2 rooms in 1 large cabin, didn't look like much on the outside. But when we opened the door of the cabin, we were truly impressed by the amount of stuff in there! there was a double decker bed (queen size bottom, single at the top) with linens and comfortable blankets. there was a sink, a microwave, refrigerator, kettle and even a toaster! There was also an attached bathroom & shower that we shared with the neighboring cabin. There were gas BBQs conveniently located where we cooked our catch of 2 beautiful whitings.

The dugong cruise is HIGHLY recommended. We saw like 7 dugongs, apart from other awesome sea animals (sandshark, dolphins, giant green turtles...).

A trip to monkey mia is highly recommended to see the dolphins who come right up to you in the shallow water on the beach -an amazing experience. However the resort itself is not great if you are backpacking. There is no kitchen facilities all rooms do have a microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge, but unless you have your own pots and pans you cant cook as only outdoor camping facilities are provided. The small shop is also slightly expensive but there is a cafe and restaurant. The resort is run very well but basically the only reason to be there is for the dolphins.
