BUG Review
This is a good quality big 130-bed hostel. The atmosphere is warm and lively and the hostel’s common areas are top notch – the movie room is excellent, the courtyard is a great barbecue spot, the beach is nearby and surf and body boards are available, free of charge. The kitchen’s well-equipped and very clean for a backpacker’s kitchen, and if you’re too lazy to make your own eats there’s a plastic-modern café at the first floor. Bathrooms are just OK, but the rest of the place is definitely above average, the furnishing feels new and the good dormitories are clean and equipped with inner-spring mattresses and en suite bathrooms.
Price Dorm bed $23 ($22 VIP) Single room $62 Double room $67 Triple room $78 Prices are in Australian dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
Easy to meet people
Cons:
Rooms could be cleaner

Yeah the rooms could be cleaner but sterile hostels tend to lack atmosphere anyway. Great place to meet fellow travellers. Sociable areas and great pub!
Pros:
location to the beach
Cons:
very unclean and dilapidated rooms and linen.

i found that this hostel, (and i have stayed in a few!!!!), was well below average, especially at the rates they charge. From the front the hostel looks nice, and has a nice foyer/cafe area. The courtyard and common room was okay, but the outdoor metal stairs to our room has definately seen better days. I stayed in a double room with a friend, and the room was pretty unclean. The linen that was provided was ratty and torn and bleached through and the bathroom and all the floors were really dirty, and possibly home to many bacterial strains.
Apart from the location, right on the beach and near a rocking pub, i couldnt get out of the place fast enough.

I was booked in three nights in this hostel and lasted one.
Barr the great location near the ocean, lovely staff & good value cafe everything about this hostel I found dreadful. The lobby/lounge was awful barr the comfy settees. It smelt of rubber like a bicycle shop from the bikes parked there. The layout of the hostel was terrible, I had to go through this awful open air courtyard & up these ghastly metal stairs to an even ghastlier, smelly corridors to get to my room. None of the keys the girl in charge used worked, there were three in total, it reminded me of having to get into a prison. The whole place had a rundown dilapadated feel & was not up the international standards. The four beded dorm felt cramped with clothes thrown everywhere & a run down fridge which looked like it had been dragged from the 1970's. The lovely staff graciously gave me a refund & were very good about letting me use the internet to organise important stuff for my trip, free. Thankfully I've escaped to Perth City New YHA. There's no comparison & I'm very happy now.

This was the best hostel we stayed in while travelling in Oz. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Rooms very clean, bright and airy. We even had scented loo roll in our en-suite ! Would definately return myself or recommend to a friend. Had a really nice time. Just a shame it is a bugger to get into Perth from here when meeting early for excursions.

I stayed at OBH for 2 weeks and had an excellent time. It's probably the nicest hostel i've stayed in. Right on the beach, laid back atmosphere, good facilities and really friendly staff. If you're in WA it's worth stopping here for a while.

The OBH is situated 100 yards from Perths beach - Cottesloe. It is also right next door to off license, pub and supermarket is 100 yards away. Owners are friendly, hostel is bran new, all rooms have en-suite and lockers for valuables. Activities such as BBQ's and beach games organised during the week.Every Sunday goes off in OBH bar when all of Perths good looking females and males head to Cottelsoe for the " Sunday Session". All in all a great place to crash and a good base to see Perth plus get a suntan.

Had a blast on the beach at OB! Came for two nights and ended up here for three weeks! Nice to find a place with ensuite rooms and facilities but also a laid back atmosphere. It's a bit of a walk from the train station so take the bus... all in all the best I've stayed in Oz. Izzy-UK
