This hostel is clean and in good shape, but it’s a bit boring and there aren’t too many facilities available, just the usual kitchen and internet access. The beds are good, lockers are available, and the hostel has some character as it is housed in old military buildings. Kingstown Barracks is a quite forgettable place but its standards are good enough.

It is a very good place for us to live,coz it is very silent at night and the rooms are quite clean and the facilities are quite enough.But i had breakfast and dinner there,it is not very good,the tastes is bad and the drinks' taste like water,it must be improved.

This place is a little distance from the settlement, but you can take the courtesy island bus there or hire a bike. Nice and quiet, beautiful surrounds, and abundant in Quokkas all over the lawns when its dark. Facilities are ok, but its a bit of a hassle having to check in at the office down near the ferry. Also, they charge you for your bed cover sheet and pillow case, which is a bit mean when they don't charge you for the duvet.

You have to check in at the office at the ferry terminal, on the island and pick up a key as their is nobody at the hostel most of the time.This YHA can be considered 2 hostels on either side of the parade ground. On one side is the institutional accom which caters for school groups which have all their own facilities.Across the parade ground is 6 rooms with 6 beds in each, tv room, lounge, kitchen and bathrooms. When I was their their was also a couple of school groups which were in their part of the accom and didn't use any of the facilities where I was. As these groups were supervised by teachers living with them they were very well behaved.The best way of getting around was by bike and you could hire them in the main settlement about 2kms away. The place was alive with Quokkas (nice friendly small animals that the island is named after) trying to scrounge free food. Def a good place to stay on the Island.
