believe it or not was a pretty good hostel before. now they have renovated it and made it even better. the beds have been reduced (though still tight when full), lockers have been installed and finally theres internet. old favourites include a lovely kitchen, spanking clean toilet and bathroom and great company. reni or richard are really friendly and accomodating (no left luggage system though) cheers!!!

This place was so great, I just hated seeing everybody come only for 1 night. The beds were also really comfortable. There is a big dorm with about 12 beds I believe, and another 4-bed dorm. I stayed in both rooms and they are both great. I met so many amazing people and the whole atmosphere was amazing. It was 5 minutes from the Western city center (where the Museum Quater is), and also had plenty of information for the events that were going on. Heni, the owner/manager/housekeeper/receptionist, was great. She really takes good care of the place and really cares about making everybody comfortable and feeling at home.

Just remember, this is a hostel not a hotel. It's there for you to sleep and meet people.

Good place to go stay, very cheap plus a great kitchen so even more money saved. Fidge to keep your beer in, and easy to sleep in dorm room if drunk or tired. Not to crowded (16 at most) so easy to use facilities. Heni who runs it is a great and freindly lady, only problem is noise from streets. Recomend this to any budget traveller or if you want a relaxed environment to meet others.

Believe it or Not was a welcome relief after our one night in Tumherberge Don Bosco. Beds were clean and comfy. We got the loft room (apparently gets a bit warm there in the summer, but we were there for easter). Highly recommend this place for couples backpacking together, cus you can be in the same room. Men and women have to sleep in seperate dorms at HI hostles and you can get lonely. Also recomend this place if you are from far away (say Aussie or NZ), because your body clock will be SO out of wack and you will want to sleep in the middle of the day. The short lockout here alows this.

Yeah, people do go in and out at all hours of thenight, but at least then you don't have to feel bad when you get up at 4 am for an early flight! Smells nice, clean bathroom and functional kitchen. Close to sites like Volksgarden and Museum Quarter, and short walk to U-bahn.

Tip: two light switches have to be switched to make the toilet light go, one outside the door, and one above it.

...Even if you're slightly claustrophobic or a little bit fussy on where you sleep then don't stay here!! ...Stop reading now!! On the other hand, if you're just literally wanting a cheap bed to stay a few nights then this place is acceptable... but be warned, there's no perks to this place and the sleeping arrangements are... ermmm... how can I word this?? ...Cosy!!!

The setting is an old two roomed apartment in quite a run down building; just at the edge of the main city... 10mins walk if you're quick, 15mins for moderate... So location wise it isn't at all bad, but not great either!

The shower, toilet and generally, the whole appartment was relatively clean and okay... but there's only one of each!

If you're an early bird and goes to bed at 10pm then you will undoubtedly be woken up by people coming in late, if you're one of those night owls then you will no doubt feel guilt and awkwardness trying to get into bed... but once you've mastered this then 'you're laughing!!!'

The hostel is noisy at night because windows where left open for ventillation... but everyone seemed to sleep well for some reason.

This hostel is a good place to meet people if you're travelling alone or even in a group... The landlady is very nice, speaks english and is really helpful... ask her whatever you need to know!

p.s. For easy showering... the shower head comes off the holder.

This place is a converted apartment. 16 people can stay there at one time. There is one shower, one toilet, a sitting room, and a nice kitchen. There are cupboards available that you can lock with your own lock. One room houses 12 and another 4, so essentially it's just people stacked on top of eachother.

I was very happy with this hostel. It's a good place to meet interesting people and it's dirt cheap. The downside is that you have to be willing to live in close quarters with strangers. (I got to wake up to a hairy naked French guy every day)

Believe it or not is a great place to stay. It is small and quaint and the lady who runs it is awesome! She tells you anything you wanna know about Vienna. There are 12 beds in one room and that is it. There is a great little kitchen and also a shower room. Not a bad deal at all. It is easy to find too, but it fills up really quickly cuz it is so small so beware!!!!!!!

- too expensive for what you get (15 Euro for one night - the Jugendherberge in front of is much better, same price, breakfast included, more comfortable)

- guys and girls in one room

- very sleazy (old nasty carpets, mattresses etc.)

I stayed here during the busy Christmas season. I would definitely recommend this hostel over the more institutional-like YHA just across the street. (I went to both places.) The lady who ran Believe it or Not was extremely friendly and helpful, so were the guests staying there. There's a small, new kitchen for guests to use as well. It's an inexpensive place to stay compared to just about every other place in town. Phone ahead for a bed because it's very popular and small and tends to fill up by reservations. So many people got turned away and sent to the YHA while I was there.

We came to Vienna as a group of friends and stayed here! It was like a big sleep-over. Thanks to whoever left the instant rice and chili pepper. This was the last city on our trip and this made a great meal for those of us who were broke. Only down-side was the guy beside me with dreadlocks and the one shower. Really cheap, easy to find and not far from the main part of the city!
