Stayed there Sept/05. Located close to the Handelskai subway station and the Danube. Have to take about a 15 minute tram ride to city centre, no big deal though. Our two bunk room was clean with 3pce bath, furniture modern oak finish with lockable lockers in the room. Food shops close by if you chose to buy your own. Breakfast was adequate. Staff were very helpful.

Hard to find but we called hostel and they were helpful with directions. Our room was a double with a sink. Quite far from city. Breakfast not that good as have to pay for aspects of it. Has pool and footy tables but they weren't working. Quite a nice hostel, just location isn't great

I stayed 2 nights in Wien in August 2004. It's very clean and well-kept, and breakfast is OK, but it's also a very large YH, with several floors and huge corridors, and groups which are quite noisy. On the 2nd day, I had to queue half an hour for breakfast and there's quite a lot of queue at the desk too.

Still, I found the staff friendly enough (I speak german, that helps). The girl I shared the room with smuggled her boyfriend in a bit after after midnight, when the reception closes (to save on travel expenses). I managed to get hold of a member of the staff and even though he was off duty he was very helpful and went up with me and kicked them out. So, despite the hugeness, it's really well-run.

Rooms ok, staff unfriendly, October 26, 2003

We found this hostel very institutionalised. The staff on reception were unfriendly and demanded that I pay immediately for our whole stay with a credit card, rather than waiting for me to run down to the ATM (even when we had paid for our first night through IBN and the place seemed almost empty). They weren't that helpful when it came to asking for ideas about things to see etc either. It was clean enough though and the breakfast was ok- its' saving graces.

The place is ok, but from a youth hostel you would expect something else than 20 kids running around all day long. And the staff... just remembering how rude they are, makes me angry all over again, not helpful at all. But the rooms are ok, we got one with a sink, a shower, but no toilet (How weird is that?). The breakfast was good too.

Sorry but our group did not have a great stay like expected in Vienna. When we arrived the staff was really unfriendly and was not helpful at all.

Questions were answered just half and we didnt get the appropiate help on our demands.

Anyway the rooms were clean although there was some dust and dirt on the floor.

But the toilets were dirty. The were not cleaned between 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. I checked it myself. This was not satisfying.

Although the hostel is in a Vienna suburb it is pretty easy to get into town with bus, streetcar and metro. It is quiet fast. about 25 minutes.

Overall for the price it is still ok.

The hostel is very nice, especially the rooms across the street. The rooms are well-kept and clean. Breakfast is included and very good. The location is not that bad. There is a streetcar stop right across the street and it takes you only 10 to 15 minutes to get to the city center. The stuff is not always friendly, but o.k. 24-hour access is provided.

After traveling for an hour to find the hostel, we were pleased to find out that they had rooms available, since we didn't have reservations. The rooms were very clean, with nice furniture. It was a good value for your money and the staff was helpful with directions. Breakfast was decent, although there hot chocolate was cold:( Not much of a nightlife, but if you're looking for a room, they were very nice

Its a pretty ok hostel, especially the new part across the street. But the main problem is that it's quite out of the way from everything. And the staff is not all that nice. Apart from that, the rooms are clean and some even quite large. The new part has been recently refurbished. All in all, it's ok for the money you'd be paying.

These is a great hostel! Very clean, big rooms, with their own bathroom, great breakfast. There's only one problem, it's far from the city center and the trip from the airport there is much to long and difficult, since it's a little hard to find, and Austrian people in general are not nice (staff of the hostel included) and don't speak english or french.
