actually, there wouldnt be much difference from staying in the subway, except you would be closer to the city center. this is possibly the worst hostel in all of europe. despite the fact that it is called a youth hostel, we had random 60 year old roommates, and entire families in the dorms. an interesting contrast to their other main visitors of high school students. The staff was blatantly rude (except one nice turkish man), and may overcharge/lie to guests at will. In addition, they find it acceptable to put nice girls out in the barracks in rooms with no locks where we were protected only by the hordes of ants in the beds.

It's a so-so quality hostel. It's on the last U-bahn station (Hutteldorf) and it takes around 15 minutes by U-bahn to get to the city center. Breakfast is not so great, usually just bread, butter and marmelade with coffee or tea. It is rather clean but it could use a reconstruction. It's got its own parking lot so it is the best choice if you go there by car (no other hostels in Vienna have parking lots as far as I know).
