This youth hostel is the MOST terrible I ever been too!The have no sense of you being a customer. If you want to feel like you're in a prison, GO THERE! but i'm sure nobody likes that. Basically we were a group of friends staying for a long weekend, but this youth hostel, did RUIN our trip a bit. Because you HAVE to leave the hostel between 10am and 2pm! They basically KICK you OUT! they have a bad time for breakfast 7pm-9pm... SO EARLY ! not a great idea when you're on holidays! they are NOT welcoming at all! And the WORSE, is that they keep changing you of rooms, to make sure you wake up and hand them the keys before 10am.
Anyway, the worse youth hostel I've ever been too!

This hostel is a very good solution to sleep cheap in Bruxelles. The location is very good. In fact it is at 5 minute by foot from the Grand Place. The hostel offers also a veru good breakfast.
Pros:

Over the years I've stayed here a few times, and I think it's one of the better hostels in Brussels. But its by no means wonderful. The lock out is frustrating, as is some of the staff. But on the positive side the downstairs bar can be fun, and a few of the staff members are wonderful.

The only youth hostel, in Brussels, that does not require you to take bus, tram, or whatever transportation other than your feet: you exit Central Station, you walk 10 min.: voilà. Rooms are OK, breakfast OK, lockers on main floor. Staff MAY be friendly and helpful, more so if you ask politely, and in English (French is not popular). Close to: train station, Grand-Place, Les Sablons neighbourhood - everything. I suggest searching on viamichelin.com for easy location on a map before going: the street is very small.

This place was ok since I was only in Brussels for one night anyways (how I feel about Brussels is another story, go to Brugges instead.) The 2 for 1 beer happy hour was good and the bar downstairs was nice for a single female who doesnt like to venture very far at night. It was clean and safe and my room had a shower and sink in it, but the shower had no water pressure so I never used it. It is easy to get to from the train station, and for someone who wanted safety and security it was fine.

Stayed here for one night. I saw woman on reception (short hair) be rude and sullen with everyone she was dealing with, me included. The water in the showers flows for 30 seconds at a time and are either freezing or boiling. When I asked the staff, they said the showers were supposed to be like that. Bar and barman were great, really friendly guy and great music.

I stayed in a four bed dorm here, and I also stayed in most of the other hostels in Brussels. This one I found was the most expensive of all of them. The rooms were really clean, and very spacious, which is unusual for most hostels, but you don't get to spend very long in there as they chuck you out between 10am and 2pm, and then between 1am and 7am! The staff weren't that friendly or helpful. The brekfast is pretty basic too, bread and jam, and the dinner is really expensive, which would be fine if there was a kitchen to cook your own meals in, but there isn't.This hostel is ok, but I would only stay here again if I couldn't find anywhere else.

this hostel is very safe and gives you a protected feeling. the staff are not realy bothered, and the sad fact is that you are locked in at 1am??? why i dont know but you cant have a good night out knowing you cant go back, and....in the afternoons you have to leave for cleaners to come. this is very annoying. It is also expensive for what you get in return. It is ok for a night or so but dont expect to have fun here.

This was one of the cleanest hostels i stayed in - but the good points end there. First there is an annoying strict regime of times when you can/cant/must be in the hostel. The 1am curfew stops you from enjoying brussels by night, then you arent allowed in your room during midday hours, bad if you are newly arrived from travel and tired or if you are hungover. The facilities available arent great either, there arent any good common areas besides the bar which is only open late and always noisy. The breakfast is pretty good and there is (expensive) dinner available but no kitchen facilities otherwise. The heating is far from adequate and the matresses are wierd plastic. This place just doesnt have the homely feel a good hostel should have, its just basic accomadation. The staff add to this clinical feel via their indifference to the guests. One full time receptionist said she didnt like travelling and had never even been out of belgium! The bar is a slightly redeeming feature, the happy hour is good (2 for 1 drinks) and they have hoegaarten on tap. But i didnt come to brussels for a hostel bar and would rather have drunk out if i could have. Also i think it is unethical to offer 2 for 1 drinks if you arent allowed to sleep in the next day...

This hostel is probably the best hostel I ever stayed in. The rooms are really clean, enough space, and everything is just renovated. The staff was really helpful and friendly. What I really liked was the bar in the basement! Really cheap, especially during happy hour (8-9pm). And nice bartenders (especially the dutch guy). They stayed open till late (I don't really remember what time it was... :P) You really should pay a visit to this hostel!!!
