BUG review
This 114-bed Hostelling International hostel is a modern building by a canal around 8km north of Bruges (around half way between Bruges and Zeebrugge). It has the appearance of a charmless chain motel that you sometimes see on the outskirts of European cities, but once inside it is a clean and institutional looking hostel. Facilities include a lounge/dining room with table football and a bar that is optimistically referred to as the piano bar even though there is no piano and the bar has all the charm of a hospital cafeteria. Its location means that this hostel doesn’t get many backpackers, although its abundant parking does attract those on a driving tour of Europe. It is possible to walk here from the centre of Bruges (1½ hours along a canal), but the easiest option for those without their own transport is to take bus 41 or 42 to Dudzele and then walk around eight minutes to the hostel.

This hostel was great fun. The owner/manager was a hoot and I had a great time. The only cons, it's FAR from Brugge and the dorms could be better, scratchy blankets and 16 bd dorns aren't my idea of a great ngihts sleep!
