This hostel has probably seen better days but it's still limping along. Avoid the shower/toilet off the reception area, it's filthy. The other one down the hall isn't much better. Both have group showers, something I've always tried to avoid.

The rooms are okay. Big and okay clean. The rooms lock and the security seems okay. There's a common room with TV and free breakfast. Third floor of a building with elevator. The staff was friendly.

I stayed at this hostel last week, and i would advise all of you thinking of going, STAY AWAY. The staff here were soooo rude. They didnt give a toss about anything going on their, when we lost our room key and asked for the spare, she just gave it to us without even knowing who we were. One had her boyfriend round one night and was more worried about him than anyone else. i was waiting at the desk for ten mins before she noticed i was there. There was one with dredlocks who was a complete betch. she went round banging on peoples doors for NO reason. The showers were disgusting. No locks at all, and no shower curtain. So anyone could walk in, including girls and just walk staright in to lots of naked people. Our bad snapped in half when we were there. Someone just sat on it and it broke in half. The ladders for the bunk bed s wernt attatched so rusty nails were sticking out everywhere. The whole place smoking was permitted which was good for us smokers but not for people who dont, you can smoke in your room, the kitchen, toilets, corridoors etc etc. The rooms had BED BUGS AND FLEES. everyone in our room had bites all over our bodies. it was sick. One night we all got absolutelt paraletic and we were wondering round the hostel at 6 in the morning still, talking loudly singing etc and the receptionist didnt even care, she laughed at us!

STAY AWAY

Dirty, rude staff, no security, communal showers at its worst, broken laundry (that seems to be broken for awhile reading other reviews), extremely noisy and full of school groups. The one thing going for it is its central location. if you can stay elsewhere.

cool hostel, not the cleanest or most spacious but with a friendly atmosphere-yes there are communal 3 people shower rooms but they really arent THAT bad especially if your a girl as showers were always empty- hostel seemed to be filled with men when i got there! laundry not that clean, but booked a 2 people room and as there were none available we were allocated a 5 person room for our own use- so plenty of beds- might be a bit squashed though if actually were 5 people! breakfast very very minimal-all i saw was mini french bread, ham ,cucumber and orange juice, but its available enough and you cant complain for the price! staff friendly enough, very very central, and probably good if youre travelling alone as are lots of people there to befriend! can be quite smoky at times-even over breakfast

I stayed in a four-bed dorm at this hostel in June 2005. The location was great and the staff was helpful, although I wouldn't say friendly. The room was clean. Ours came with a shower--a clear glass box in the center of the room. The breakfast was just OK--the breakfast area wasn't very clean. The common area was very smoky, the towels we rented smelled badly of mildew and the laundry facility they advertise on their website was "broken". The one computer terminal for internet meant lots of wait time for that. I'd stay again, if I had to, but I'd look around first.

The breakfast is pretty bare, but available. A lot of the rooms face busy streets, and the shades don't block out too much light, so beware if you're a light sleeper. A guy had his bad stolen while I was there (from the large 12 person rooms) and they only offer very small lock boxes, or a large cage for luggage-which doesn't actually seem to be locked.

The people running the place were helpful but you could probably find a nicer or cheaper place. One person suggested "Elf Hostel" as a cheaper alternative.

This was the second hostel I stayed in during my 12-country backpacking trip through Europe.

The location is really great. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square. As someone else said before, there's a huge underground supermarket across the street from the hostel.

The rooms are comfortable and the bedsheets are changed every day by the staff. The bigger rooms had more of a lively atmosphere than the smaller ones.

Yes, the showers are communal. But they are clean. I just scheduled my showers during the day and was by myself every time.

Breakfast is good. They have corn flakes and sliced bread. The best choice is that they have mini loaves of French bread, sliced ham and sliced cheese. You can make a sandwich for breakfast and make another one to save for lunch later. It has a kitchen, so you can cook to save money. The Czech Republic was still on the koruna when I was there, so everything was cheap.

Security of your possessions might be a bit of a problem. There's just one really big caged locker that's mainly used to store backpacks for guests checking in later that afternoon. So don't flash valuables and lock your backpack's zippers.

There's also only one computer terminal for getting on the Internet, some waiting is unavoidable. The reception area is really small, so it can get crowded when there's backpackers trying to check in.

This is off subject, but Prague had the best pizza out of every country I saw in Europe. Pizza Gyros is a take-out joint in Wenceslas Square. At night, there's a line of locals getting pizza. The other place is a sit-down restaurant. Cross the Charles Bridge and make a right at the sidewalk sign for a Segafredo Zanetti Pizzeria Calzone. I couldn't even get in the second time I went there because it was packed.

This hostel is right in the heart of Prague, accessible to train stations and on the bus route to the airport. The dorms are spacious and quite clean. There's also a small and cosy lounge area (though if you don't smoke you may not appreciate it!).

When we arrived the staff were quite curt, but as the girl when we left was more friendly, that may just be luck of the draw.

My MAJOR problem fo me was that the showers are three showers in one cubicle, so if you're at all uncomfortable with that - as I was - I wouldn't recommend it. I waited for a time to get in on my own, but was joined by someone anyway!

additional info: im german so dont complain about my english;-)

I've been there together with 4 friends. We had a nice and tidy room with a view on a public place. 10 meters away from the hostel there is a huge underground supermarket, where u get everything u need. Dont hesitate to show ur ISIC card. i think u get 10 percent on the price. there is a kitchen with microwave and a room to watch tv. when ive been there, many english people were there, too. the showers are not the best of the world but western standard. it takes 2 minutes to the next big public place. and it takes about 10 minutes to walk from the station. the breakfast was not very good ( old awful bread, strange coffee) but thats no problem since its so cheap in prague to breakfast at a mc donalds or to buy ur own bread in a bakery.

go there and enjoy it.

ps: i think it s the best location in prague. its close to the station ( u dont need to take a tram) and u are also close to the clubs and the life of prague...

This is really, really cental, and a good price too. I know people who have paid the same for a hostel way out of the city centre.

Stayed here for 4 nights and found the reception staff to be very helpful: told us the best places to go in Prague.

Clean etc.

Only downside was the fact that there were 3 people per shower - but if your modest like me just don't go in the morning - deserted at other times!!
