I had seen all the positive reviews on this hostel before I checked in, and I wasn't disappointed. Rooms were better equipped than those at most other hostels, complete with hair dryer and huge lockable drawers under the bunk beds in addition to an open wardrobe with lots of hangers. Free internet access was often available, most likely because the guests have to stand up while using the internet (there are no chairs at the computers). This effectively prevents people from lingering on, while still permitting people to use the internet for free when really needed. The staff spoke good English, and were knowledgeable and helpful. The fly in the ointment was the flooding of the ensuite bathroom floor after each shower.

More of a boutique hotel than a hostel. Clean, quiet rooms, great showers and friendly staff. The pillows and duvets rock. About 2 blocks from the I.P. Pavlova metro stop and about a 20-25 min walk to Old Town. Radost FX and Jama Restaurant are close bygreat nightlife options. Downside is not a big social scene in this hostel.

Very impressed by this hostel, very clean and modern, friendly staff always willing to offer advice when needed. Rooms were spotless and spacious, like staying in a hotel. Only criticism was that there was no bar and social area was located under reception and tended to be quiet. Location is also excellent approx 10-15 mins from town square

I stayed here twice during my Europe trip and both times were fantastic!! It is really nice and quiet which was one of the best things, I slept so well here, especially since the beds were so comfy (no bunks!) and there are only 5 beds in a dorm. The free (&fast!) internet is great. It is really easy to meet people as well, and if you are by yourself there is plenty of cozy space to hang and read a book if you feel like it. THE BEST BATHROOM I have seen in a hostel - it really is. So clean, like a 5 star hotel. You will not have a better shower anywhere else. The location is great, being so close to the metro so you do not have to carry your pack far. Also, security is tops - I felt very safe here, and there are huge lockers under the beds which are free. The staff were really friendly and make you feel welcome. A lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into making this hostel a lovely place for backpackers. I highly recommend Miss Sophies when you visit Prague!!

The only, I repeat only_! negative point about this place is you don't get a crappy free breakfast. It's really a mute point since their is an awesome grocery store right up the road and the bar across the street that offers a "mexican breakfast." I didn't try it, but they do have an american dude working in their that may have schooled them in the art of breakfast tacos.Sophie's rooms (along with the rest of the hostel) were spic and span with very comfy beds, clean white sheets, and BIG pillows. Everyone got their own key to the room which meant you didn't have to wake up your roomies when it's late and your full of pivo. The showering facilities were very nice with good hot water, good pressure, and a huge shower head to deliver it. Do not leave one bit of toiletries in the bathroom as they will be thrown out with the daily cleaning.Under each bed, they have roll out locker that opens up nice and big. You could possibly throw your whole pack in there without unpacking it! Methinks we could have stuffed Pete, our roomie, into one of them if needed be....Sophie's common room / refridgerator / cooking area is very nicely done with leather sofas to relax on. Perfect if you want to read a book in the late hours and not disturb your roomies. Not really a place to party, but a place to relax. This is a non-smoking hostel, but they do have a small courtyard to sit and enjoy a smoke. Fast and free, as the internet should be, is what Sophie's has to offer. The keyboards are a bit out of wack and are probably in need of replacing, but they are running ***LINUX*** on one of their two machines and the internet is very responsive! The directions they have on Sophie's website are great until you exited the IP station and then is a bit too exact and can be a big confusing when you can't read street signs late at night. When you exit out of IP Pavlova (according to their directions), simply go straight, cross the street, and a diagonal street will be on your left - it is well lit and they usually have a security guard standing outside the office building on the left side of street. Walk down that street and it will be the first street on the right and Sophie's will be on the lefthand side. The signage on the front of the building is small so look closely, but you should just look for the Mexican bar right across the street. SIMPLY THE BEST HOSTEL...!

This hostel was the best i've stayed in so far. It was so, so, so clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they made the stay so much better. The rooms were spacious with the most comfortable beds ever. The showers were fantastic, they had the biggest shower heads i've ever seen and the hot water was great too. There was also free internet and a funky lounge downstairs to sit and relax in. We stayed in a dorm and also a private room and can't recommend this super hostel enough. Location is with good within 200m from metro and a lovely walk into town.

The hostel is physically well designed - very thoughfully done, is near brand new and was done simply but with class. Rooms not overfilled, nice lockers under the beds, 2 free internet terminals, small backyard with some benches and grass. Gotta love it. Its like a new catgory of Hostel: the "Boutique Hostel".But the gem there is actually the staff. Every single of them was was nothing less than perfect: smiley, positive, knowledgeable and helpful. That made my day every bit as much as the place itself.BTW, skip the cheesy "Banditos" bar/restaurant, its not exactly "authentic" Mexican - and that aint what you're in Prague for anyway. Patronize the nearby local Czech places, which are not only better food buch cheaper. The best one IMO est on is left out of the Sophies entrance, left again and down hill. I ate like a king there, several courses and drank excellent "Kelt" dark beer for less money than you'd pay for an entree at Banditos. The other place uphill on the main street there ("Jeczna" I think the street was called") with the "Gambrinus" sign is not bad either. And there is a third one further downhill that closes early (11pm) but has great food and drink too.Anyway back to Sophies: a great place in a nice central location - I walked everywhere from there. I'd stay there anytime. It was excellent value for money - and frankly I'd gladly pay a bit more if it stays that nice and clean and uncrowded.I just hope they can manage to keep it as clean in the long run - their prices are maybe slightly too low and low end backpackers are on average slobs IMO.
