Hi there. WHY CAN'T I GIVE A NO STAR RATING!!!!!?????This is the third hostel we have stayed in on our travels. I have never seen anything so bad. We arrived and were hassled for cash, then 10minutes later the non-english speaking woman came back and asked for more money!!The 'ensuite' toilets were nowhere to be seen. More like 'en-same floor'!!! The toilet that is shown on the website must be either from the owners flat or the bathroom shop down the road!!The floors are disgusting. The hallway has green 'golflike' carpet that is all ripped at one joint.We had booked in for 4nights and on the second night, the woman came in and asked us if we were leaving that day. This hostel, if you could call it that, is the pits!! I hope that there is something done about this place. I just hope you fellow backpackers read this and the other comments before booking into Alcatraz.Thanks for reading.Oh, by the way this guy has his own website - P1hostel@volny.cz- do not believe what you see or you'll be VERY VERY dissapointed!!Regards,Bruce.

IF prison accomadation is what you like, please feel free to stay at Prague 1 hostel. ALthough i feel prisoners would object to staying here. Non speaking woman who would rob you every half chance she gets and another very strange man who tries to rob her every chance he gets. Had to leave after one night as the screaming and disgusting showers which were flooded with water and hair and the en-suite by the way was no where to be seen. but the price for the en-suite was still being screamed down my ears in German. Not very nice, would advise Hostel Budec, which is hallf the price and triple the quality.

Advantages: 1. Very central;2. Beside 'U Fleku' (great beer hall);3. Cheap (in price);Disadvantages:1. Dirty & Unkempt - a tenement hostel. Is it too much to ask that they clean the place?2. Camping beds - if you want the impoverished student feel, then this place is great. Bring your own beer cans;3. Owner wants cash! Be firm;4. No new sheets unless you hassle the poor, non-English-speaking woman. She speaks French though. This does sound arrogant, but for a business dealing with young visiting foreigners, is it too much to ask that they speak a little more English?5. No lockers (although the roommates were sound);6. The windows have white spray on them - for privacy, one assumes. The whole place looks as if it was furnished for 1,000 KC and maintained for less.6. Cheap (in service) - You get what you pay for.
