i don't want to rehash a lot of what's been said already, but i gotta say this:

i never seek out party hostels, they're just not my thing, but when i got to prague i was desperate and landed at traveller's. i pre-paid for three nights in one of the 28-bed dorms rooms. now, despite the place being pretty dirty, folks going to bed at 5am and waking up at 5pm, and finding an emptied box of condoms in my locker (which was, apparently, of dire importance 'cause stuff was getting stolen left and right), this was probably the most fun i have ever had at a hostel. the atmosphere was a little scary (dark! dirty! dangerous!) but exhilarating. my rotating 27 roommates and i got along like the care bears, talking through the night in the common area, going up to the bar for beer and shots of absinthe, encouraging each other to streak, and listening to old folk music over 20-crown beers. like i said, inexplicably great.

so, as long as you are prepared for the lack of security and cleanliness (and frankly, for some of you the pros of the hippie life would not outweight these significant cons), this hostel is a brilliant experience.

The only good thing about this hostel is its location. It is only a five minute walk from Old Town Square. However, its downhill after that. First of all, you are given a keyring with FOUR keys on it. To get to your room you have to open up three prison-like iron doors and then the wooden one for your room. You even have to take your key with you going for a shower. At night the corridors in this hostel are unlit and in total darkness you have to find the switchs.(if this hostel was in France or Germany the fire safety authorithies would close it down) The bar in this hostel is a complete rip-off with beers costing more in the hostel than in local places and internet access costs a relative fortune. Not recommended - it is not the only hostel near the city centre.

Despite booking a few months in advance when we arrived we found that we were not in the main building of the hostel which was a shame because this was much nicer, instead we were in a building down the street, open a huge gate and go into a urine stinking courtyard, before climbing some dodgy concrete steps! Once inside the dorm you will be pleasantly suprised-it was clean and spacious, the showers were small but clean, the beds are super comfy with the biggest pillows Ive ever seen!

The staff are downright rude, when we arrived and asked where we take breakfast we were told abruptly "ask your room mates"!

Breakfast is fab, the best on my whole trip-cereals, toast, cold meats and cheese, jam coffee and tea.

The location is brilliant - just 5 minutes and you are in the Old Town Square, the other way 10minutes (with backpack!) you are at Namesti Republiky metro station.

I would stay again, but first impressions of staff and the building are dire to say the least.

by it's cover! You know the old saying well really take that into account with this place as i was seriously worried when i first arrived. The scary dark lift and stairs are enough to put anyone off but once you get up to the dorms themselves it's fine. As soon as i got there i hated it and asked my friend if we could look for somewhere else, decided to give it one night and so glad as it was actually fine, in fact one of my favourites and i stayed at 8 hostels in 3 weeks - mad i know. Very central, everything walking distance, showers are small but work fine, breakfast included and not a great choice but filled me up. Very cheap booze at the bar, table football, jukebox etc. Staff not overly friendly, especially as they have to hand out a new code every day but felt very safe, lockers in rooms, lovely squashy pillows and quilts. Cheap and cheerful and i'd definately recommend it.

We stayed in the loft 2-3 person Apartment. the place was amazing and had a great view. The apartments are perfect for up to three people. It was very clean. the only thing was the towels were a big hard. We I was there the staff was very friendly and helpful. SECURITY was great a bit difficult at times (because we had to unlock and use code for almost every door) The apartment always had hot water.

This Hostel also Has items that you can rent from them. Meaning if you don't have a converter for the electric they have for you can rent. I thought that was great.

The hostel was in a great location and a good party spot is right next door. The breakfast is better than most hostels, at least it is all you can eat. LOL

one thing there is no smoking in your rooms though.....keep that in mind if you smoke.

I rate this place low because it feels very institutional.

If clean sheets, comfy beds, well maintained facilities and a good location are what you're looking for then you're golden here. My stay wasn't bad at all...just frickin boring.

The place is made to accomodate the hordes of hostellers that come to the three-ring circus known as prague. It's a huge hostel located right next to the Roxy club...an OK club. Easy to find and a short walk to everything in Praha 1.

Management was helpful and nice. Internet connection was always slow. Breakfast was good and included in price. The bar is on the corner of the top floor and thus not much of a hangout spot.

Mostly I didn't like the institutional blahness. The dorms are dark and dreary although the 4-bed rooms are pretty nice. Good spot but I preferred the Golden Sickle.

despite a good location, this hostel has several flaws: the staff is rude and generally unhelpful, the bathrooms are dirty, and there is constant banging. dont stay here if you would like any sleep. the breakfast may have been bad even for a hostel, and may cause jaw problems

I stayed in a 4-bed dorm that was a little cramped but clean. No bunk beds. All-you-can eat breakfast. Staff were a little disorganized, but then again, isn't everything in Eastern Europe? Sketchy entrance - the dark staircase and courtyard. Bathrooms HUGE and clean

I stayed at the Traveller's Hostel for one night and I found it a very convenient hostel. It's located in the centre of the city, so you don't have to bother with public transport. The room, toilets and showers were all really clean. The breakfast was great: muesli, yoghurt, bread, cheese, meat, marmalade, coffee, orange juice,... I stayed in a dorm for 10 people and I found the room rather small for so many persons, but the people I shared the room with were cool and the bed was really comfortable. The staff was friendly. I recommend this hostel to anyone going to Prague who's looking for a central, cheap, clean and convenient place to stay.

I stayed here for 4 nights with a friend in a private room during November. I booked via www.hostelworld.com and had no problems. You need 2 book at least 2 days in advance on the web and then pay the balance on arrival. Room was great - clean, lots of space and bathrooms just down the hall (3rd floor). Bar was good fun and really friendly. Breakfast great value- the usual continental spread with juice and coffee/tea and served until 10am (from memory!) Apparently dorms were good too.

I originally booked 2 nights and wanted to extended my stay for another 2 - the staff were a little reluctant to help out until the morning off the next day. Sometimes they weren't overally friendly but it didn't really matter in the end - this is obviously just the way they do things at this hostel. Anyway, we got a bed so who cares!

This place is in a great spot - few minutes walk from main square, there's a nightclub in the bottom (free on monday's for lodgers) and the security was also really good. Close to the Jewish quarter and no need to really use the metro unless you're feeling lazy whilst exploring prague.

Be warned - if you sleep in and are checking out, the hostel staff will be in 10am sharp to clean your room. So keep that in mind!

This place is great and one of the best places i've stayed travelling around europe - it's not small but it's friendly and easy to base yourself from. They also run a hostel in Cesky Krumlov which was amazing (see reviews). Check it out - i'll be back.
