BUG review
This cute hostel is painted with brightly coloured Cornish murals. It is very well maintained and has a great social atmosphere. Facilities include a small kitchen, a bar/restaurant and three common rooms (one with a TV, one with a pool table and a quiet reading room).

I stayed here 3 nights with a friend, and we left a day earlier than we had intended due to the reception we received during our stay.

Upon arrival, we discovered that our booking had never been placed, despite it being made via the telephone. There were spare dorm beds available, so the problem was easily solved - however, we were made to feel as this minor setback was a real burden on the owners & we were made to feel unwelcome throughout our entire stay by them. Our repeated request to stay for 4 nights was outright blanked by one owner, who insisted we pay on the 3rd night (charging us for 3 nights only). We felt like we had practically been thrown out & were frankly glad to be leaving.

There are a few facts wrong on the website. Firstly, despite website prices & other guests stating a dorm room was £18, the owners insisted that there was no option for a dorm bed without breakfast included, and we were charged £21.50 per night. Secondly, there is no internet available here, or anywhere in Sennen - the closest internet access is in Penzance, which is an easy distance by car, but 40 minutes to an hour by bus.

It was a real shame our stay was so disappointing. The actual hostel itself is a nice building, and I have no complaints regarding facilities, nor the location. The hostel is well-kept and well-equipped & I think further refurbishments are planned. The other guests were lovely & we always had a room to ourselves (bizarre for dorms, but nice nonetheless). There is a lovely outdoor decking area with tables & chairs for the Summer & there are fantastic walks direct from the hostel door around the Cornish coast. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to Lands End & the scenery along the coastal path is simply stunning.

All new, amazing, new kitchen, new showers really good, smart set up, excellent. I know it's not what it was, but the atmosphere is great and the new owners are wonderful. Very warm welcome, in fact stayed longer than i booked for!!

For those who are not aware the place had changed owners, with the new owners being described by others (I found a few reviews on the web) as rude and money grabbing amongst other things.

The place is definitely not the welcoming place it used to be and is now a very nice looking place but staying there is a most horrific experience, especially if you are a peace and quiet loving person.

On our last visit there, a few days ago, we were actually verbally and physically attacked by one of the owners simply for asking if they could turn down the music a little bit in the restaurant as it was impossible to sit quietly in the room and read (not to mention trying to get some sleep). The foul language used by the owner towards us cannot be repeated and the only thing worse was him actually grabbing my by the hand and squeezing it as if to make a point how strong he is and what I should expect should I try and reply (needless to say I did not)

I strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs

Very poor hostel. In fact the price was £18 per dormitory bed! The dormitories were tiny and cold and the facilities, despite being clean were very basic.

Despite their advertisements, there was no food available and the staff took no interest in their customers bar their payments. I would definitely not stay again despite its picturesque location.

After an aborted attempt at a four-day-walk along the Cornwall Coast path (thanks to lack of sleeping bags and a shoddy tent), we landed at this hostel. It's a bed-and-breakfast and hostel all in one place, and you can camp outside if you want as well. The dormitories are in a small building just off the main house. They have a terrific restaurant and bar with plenty of vegetarian stuff for the veggies who are reading this--including the best veggie breakfast ever. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and there was a great video and book collection. Land's End is just a two-mile walk down the road, and the First and Last Inn (great pub) is a just a half-mile from Whitesands. There's Whitesands Bay, as well, within a half mile. We only expected to stay there one night, and we very reluctantly left after two. We could have stayed there another week if we'd had time.
