Good place to crash between clubbing and hitting the beach. Very layed back., June 10, 2007
Reviewer: jonnyzzz from Sheffield

Pros: Layed back about most activities you would expect in Newquay
Cons: Cleanliness was disgraceful in the rooms and size of rooms. Also common room usualy locked.

On arrival me and my friend went to find someone so we could get the key to our room. We struggled to find anyone and when we did they were not interested. We sat in the bar with our luggage and kept enquiring. Eventualy a woman came through and took us to our room in the basement. Once in our room we were told they only had one key for our room and that was their copy. We then had to wait for around an hour in out tiny room for the woman to return with a key for us. Our room was no bigger than 8 feet by 8 feet. Our room consisted of two sets of bunk beds (on of these broken). It was dirty and discusting. There was no cleaner or change of sheets whilst we were there and I would not be suprised if the sheets have still not been changed. We shared a bathroom with around twenty others. The toilet had no lock on the door and the shower had no curtain.

Overall we had a good time but it was not due to the accomodation. We spent as little time in there as possible, spending most nights on the beach. The people who worked there were very relaxed and did not mind smoking in the rooms.

I am returning to Newquay this year but not to Home Surf Lodge. I've learnt that lesson.
