Beautiful place to stay - a home from home., October 1, 2008
Reviewer: Ellef from Medway, UK

Pros: The view, proximity to the beach and the town, nice sitting room.
Cons: Staggering back uphill to bed after an evening in the town ... but can't complain!

I spent one night here on a backpacking trip in September 2008, and it's a really lovely place to stay. The view over Perranporth beach is outstanding, and a hotel on the same location would probably charge a fortune for that alone. Toilets, showers and the kitchen were all well kept and clean, and the dining/common room is attractively furnished, with an interesting display on the wall about the hostel's past use as an experimental naval hydrophone station in the 1950s.

Perranporth has many useful facilities a short but relatively steep downhill walk away, with a pharmacy, doctors' surgery, numerous restaurants, bars and pubs and at least one cashpoint - very useful for backpackers. The beach is long, sandy and has lifeguards on duty, and is evidently popular with surfers.

Overall, a lovely hostel and one I would be pleased to go back to.
