Pros:
The view, proximity to the beach and the town, nice sitting room.
Cons:
Staggering back uphill to bed after an evening in the town ... but can't complain!

I spent one night here on a backpacking trip in September 2008, and it's a really lovely place to stay. The view over Perranporth beach is outstanding, and a hotel on the same location would probably charge a fortune for that alone. Toilets, showers and the kitchen were all well kept and clean, and the dining/common room is attractively furnished, with an interesting display on the wall about the hostel's past use as an experimental naval hydrophone station in the 1950s.Perranporth has many useful facilities a short but relatively steep downhill walk away, with a pharmacy, doctors' surgery, numerous restaurants, bars and pubs and at least one cashpoint - very useful for backpackers. The beach is long, sandy and has lifeguards on duty, and is evidently popular with surfers.Overall, a lovely hostel and one I would be pleased to go back to.
