I stayed at Keswick YHA in July 2005 with my friend. I found the location excellent, a short walk from the bus station. My friend drove there, and did not find it quite as convenient as there is no car parking at the hostel and she could not find a street parking place nearby.

The dorm room was okay - clean enough and spacious, with individual reading lights and bedside shelves, but it was hot and stuffy. The lounge was comfortable with a balcony overlooking the river. The self catering kitchen was well equiped. We had meals at the hostel. The evening meal was very good value for money - three courses for £5.90 and there was a reasonable choice and big portions, although the quality was not great. I was very impressed that they provided rice cakes, herbal teas etc. if required. Breakfast was fruit, cereal, juice etc. and a choice of cooked items. The only one of anything rule meant the choice for vegetarians was lmited.

I liked the friendly atmosphere at YHA Keswick. It was fairly easy to meet people and get chatting the dining room and dorms. It was very popular with walkers and backpackers. I would have been happy there on my own. I found it excellent value for money. I would stay there again.
