I stayed there 2 nights in April 2005, while walking along the SW Coastpath and in Exmoor. It's possible to walk from Minehead to Lynton, Lynton to Ilfracombe, or Lynton to Exford, in just 1 day. YH is away from the town and the coastline, perched on the side of a hill, with a lovely river flowing down the valley. The view from my room, right across the valley, was beautiful! Lots of walks around. Hostel itself very neat and tidy, there's a bench where walkers can take off their boots just outside the door, and a place where to put the boots away to dry inside. Staff very friendly. Rooms well warmed and not damp. Toilets + showers OK. Large guests' kitchen but one of the staff is a trained cook and it's possible to eat dinner at the hostel, if you book a little ahead. I tried it, and the food was delicious (locally grown products, mostly) and plentiful. Very value for money! Excellent English breakfast too!

This was a really pleasant hostel with a wonderful "homey' feel about it. It is nothing luxurious but has a friendly and helpful staff. Handy pub at the end of the lane. This is about as uninstitutional as you can get in a hostel. Looking forward to staying there again

hard to find but nicely situated in a really quiet place. a nice pub just at the bottom of the road. small youth hostel that looks a bit old fashioned but nice dormitories. relaxing stop.
