The location was fantastic. Extremely close to the museum and walking distance to the thick of everything. I stayed in the room on the ground level with the window closest to the street. There was a sink in the room, toilet/shower downstairs. The lockers are underneath the bunks, they are essentially metal cages and you use your own padlock. You can fit your whole backpack in there. However, be warned that they screech horribly (at least mine did). I'd suggest preparing what you need for the next morning the night before, otherwise you feel really bad as there's no chance of quietly getting ready. It seemed like there were quite a few people effectively living at the hostel, maybe locals or travellers staying until they could find work or a place to stay. Because of that I didn't find as much friendliness among the travellers when compared to other hostels. The staff were fine nothing outstanding, except for one guy (blonde and French I think) who was just so lovely and helpful. Overall I was quite comfortable for the few days I was there.
Pros:
It's cosy, fantastic (really) location, great staff
Cons:
Only one female-only dorm

I really can't recommend this hostel enough! I had the best time here! The people were so fantastic and friendly and I walked everywhere I wanted to be. It's an old house-like hostel which makes it feel like one of the gang, the breakfast was good and it's safe and clean! Go and stay there - you will love it too!

This Hostel has been over rated by "users". I booked this hostel based on ratings posted, and it was absolutely the worst place I have stayed in. My room was extremely expensive, it had two bunk beds and it was the size of a jail cell...literally!! There was a sink in the room that smelled like a WC and there were flies swarming around the beds. There was enough room for only two people to be standing at the same time, and all the sheets/ blankets had mysterious white stains on them. The shower room was dirty with black stains everywhere, the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned with toilet paper strewn everywhere. The staff was horrific, and completely unfriendly. No Credit Cards accepted even though the price for two nights was over 60 US dollars!!yes, it was close to the British museum, but very far from everything else. Find a better hostel to stay in in London, please!!!

Stayed at the Mesueum Inn Hostel for 12 days in a dorm room of 6. Was offered the cheeper weekly rate which was most appreciated. Stayed around the corner in the Anex which was fine - cosy but comfortable. Key codes and individual room keys supplied. Security lockers under each bed and luggage storage available. Breakfast was basic, creal, rolls, tea and coffee. Bathrooms were basic (no outlets to electric shave thou) and showers ran cold several times however. Overall the accomodation was basic and comfortable. The building itself is a bit old and run down, thou staff were friendly and helpful and the location was extremely good. Staff willingly faxed ahead to reserve other hostels in Europe for me, which was great. They also have a shared dinner every Wed night which is a good way to meet the other people staying there. I would stay here again when in London.

I stayed in here for three nights and I really can recommend it! Super-central location, nice staff, good common rooms, reasonable prices and a great choice of dvds to watch! 50 meters away from British Museum which is really cool and for free!

I think the Museum Inn is by far the best hostel in London. It's close to absolutely everything (West-End, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Oxford St, and fantastic cafes and pubs...FORUM CAFE!!) and the staff are all wonderful! They go out of their way to help you (I disagree with Josh) and are so friendly! So many nights I stayed up late having great conversations and numerous cups of coffee with them all! The rooms are clean (the cleaners probably have to start early so other people can check in....it's the same all around the world), the kitchen is huge, and the video and DVD selection is awesome. It is an old building so it's not absolutely sparkling white but it's got character and it's definitely homely!I stayed there for ages and loved every minute of it! I wouldn't have rathered stay anywhere else. Thanks for everything guys and I hope you keep having fun and remember me!!

This hostel is on a quiet, pretty street - yet very close to oxford street, leicester square, and other great areas. It's not too big, so it can be homey. But the staff are not too helpful, they seem put-out by requests a bit. The rooms are ok, but there are no lockers, and it's rather run-down. Also they start vacuuming every morning around 9 AM, making sleeping late a problem.

The staff was very nice, but the bathrooms are really dirty. Also, the blankets were not washed and I got a rash on my legs.
