BUG Review
This friendly hostel has all the usual facilities including a TV lounge, a narrow kitchen and small dining room and a small backyard with a barbecue. Although relatively clean the décor feels dated. It sleeps around 100, mostly in three to four-bed dorms.
Price Dorm bed £15 Twin room £32-34
Price includes breakfast Prices are in local currency and are inclusive of all taxes.
Pros:
wonderful atmosphere, good location, fantastic people
Cons:
not so hygenic in the kitchen

the stay at this hostel was among one of the best experiences i've ever had accomodation-wise. usually when you stay at a hotel (or motel or hostel etc) you don't generally want to spend so much time actually being at the hotel; because it's unpersonal, cold, and you don't feel much at home. at nevern i felt at home, i really got to know my neighbours well, and the staff were so much more than just staff, they were friends. in fact, a more friendlier place you'd have look hard for. i can't understand the people who say the staff are rude, and arrogant! i stayed at the hostel the four weeks in febrary this year, and i never saw anything of the kind. on the contrary - the were incredibly helpfull and down to earth. it is not the cheapest place, but it is cheap. what you can expect for that price is pretty much what you get. the hostel over all could do well with a throughout cleaning, but it's nothing you can't live with. the kitchen is the best place to meet new friends, and i can assure you, you do meet new friends. the place has my warmest recomendations./nina

Stayed here for one week. Basic rooms, all that you needed to doss down. Beds were infected with bed bugs though - still trying to get rid of them in my sleeping bag!! Suggest trying somewhere else.

This is certainly the best hostel in earls court ! I should know cause i have stayed in quite a few around this area - the first one - being Olave House - which was so disgusting i checked out and cruised the area for others the day after. Then after looking at about 5 others, came across the Nevern. It was friendly, staff and occupants alike. Good social group that makes regular trips to the local (£1 pints on mon and thurs) and invites new-comers along .... esp single travellers. The room i stayed in was a quad room - four girls, with ensuite bathroom. The bathroom was a bit small, but not having to queue or run down the hall in your underwear was a pleasant change. The kitchen was usually pretty tidy, which granted is hard to do with about 80 guests using it. But on the downside is also pretty small for it to accommodate that amount of people. All and all i loved my stay and when i am back in london would be first on my list of places to stay. Beacause a lot of the people actually live there for a number of months would also mean that when i did go back there would be familiar faces to come back to is also nice.

In terms of faclilities, this place is nothing like the pics and the marketing. Its quite run-down, man of bathrooms are small and dingy, some of the rooms the same. From what I hear, the owner has done quite well. Started with nothing and now owns several hostel properties. I can only surmize that his success is based on running the place on the borderline of "slum lord" territory. Some of the things I saw were just plain cheap and dumb: eg using a wooden plank as a piece of a shower unit - you just KNOW it was bound to get mouldy and nasty in a mere couple days even? WHY do it? . I mean, if you see the shower is inadequate pr broken and you're fixing it, spend the money to fix it up properly - you have a full house every night! So in that sense the hostel feels cheap, dingy and kinda scuzzy. You know its dirt-cheap, so you don't bitch too much, but I left feeling like I'd be perfectly willing to pay 5-10 bucks more to have it be just decent and clean, you know? What this place has going for it is that many of the guests are nice & some of the staff. Its more laid abck and personal than say: the Picadilly or the Generator. However, I found some of the long-term guests (primarily Australians) who were working/living at the Nevern, to be pretty rude and unprofessional. But overall folks were nice. Another positive is the neighbourhood. Earls Court is laid back but on the edge of Zone 1, very accesible to the center on foot, bus, tube. Very neigbourhoody with lots of affordable restaurants, pubs, 24 hr Tesco and Sainsburys nearby. Nevern a common room, but at night you'll never get to use it unless you want to watch whatever film is on. Its usually full of folks watching TV with the lights off - forget about reading your travel guide or a novel or whatever. So thats not good. The Nevern has a full kitchen thats open for all night to use. That was very good and very useful.Overall, its a okay place if you are flat broke or dont have any option that night. You'll be fine - but its not the first place -or even the 10th - that I'd try if I'm looking for London hostel. Good area, but look at other Earls Court options first. Not the Corazon House Hostel - that's actually worse than this one!!I really wish they would fix it up clean and decent - that would change my rating of it totally

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hostel from september to December. We had a double room which was really nice and also had our own on suite. The receptionist sometimes known as "Pokey" was superb! She made staying at the hostel something to remember. The hostel is really close to the tube, has a few pubs around, near two big grocery shops and is great if you are working in the center. I loved living at this hostel and the people i meet and lived with I will never forget.

The Nevern is one of probably a thousand hostels around the world that decieve you with their advertising. Cleanest and friendlist - lets start with those two oh so cliched catch phrases...if clean is filthy, grime ridden bathrooms (which never have toilet paper in them) or the smelly, stinky, smokey, regular's controlled common room or the BBQ area which hasnt seen a gardner in years. Friendliest, mmm, its amazing how some people are actually in the hospitality industry...the manager is an arrogant, ego tripping babboon who parades around like he's, well I guess I've just said it, although his disposition changes when he's around females-typical. The other female receptionist who i encountered came across like she wanted to be anywhere but behind that desk. Kitchen tiny and pokey, eating area the same, breakfast very poor. These other reviews here are just deluded...no bunk beds??? I stayed in a shoe box crammed 9 bunk bed room, top bunks had no safe railing or no ladder/steps and there so little room for anyone to put anything, ANYWHERE! If your with a few friends, go to a cheap 2 star hotel, same price and a so much better - we did. Many of London's hostels need to smarten up their game because they are so far behind the rest of the worlds backpackers. One star for sucking me in with their advertising.

It was nice to stay in a clean hostel in London. No bunk beds, and not being crammed into rooms made this hostel a pleasure to stay in. Definetly a must stay place for backpackers on a budget.

it was a very friendly place to stay and the staff were cheerful. when I was there it had just become under new management and the people I met there said it is better then it used to be, they also said it was alot less crowded because the rooms used to have as many beds in as possible now it has about 2-6 beds to a room. The rooms are very big as well. It was also a very clean hostel probably the cleanest one I have been in.
