BUG Review
St Christopher's Camden hostel is not quite as clean as the other St Christopher's hostels, but it is still a good option if you want to stay close to the Camden markets. It is located above a pub (you check in at the bar) and guests get discounted food and drinks. There is not kitchen but there's a laundry and a small TV lounge in the basement.

Price
Dorm bed £15-17

I thought it was great and very clean. The bathroom in our hall was very private. We were there in January and the room was like a furnace. I woke up with 3 strange boys from New York...interesting. I also woke up to the sound of two men fighting in the alley and the ambulance coming. I think someone got stabbed. But that is the fun and adventure of London!

i would rather give this 3 and half stars but oh well. its a pretty standard hostel, but not spectacular. its in camden which happens to be my favorite part of london, but be aware it is considered to be one of the more dangerous areas and really isnt near any of the major sights.

i met a very strange mix of people there, alot of them were there long term and actually from london. not the friendliest bunch, seemed a little cliquey. the staff however, was excellent. very friendly and extremely helpful.

security was a bit confusing, you need your own lock for this little cubby under the bed. problem is that theres only one cubby and obviously a bunk bed consists of 2 people, so uh yah. also the door to my room didnt lock.

the place seemed clean enough, and i think i would go back, but mostly just for the great location.

I went there for a couple of days. And I won't do again. It was scrubby. The shower only had warm water which turns hot and hotter. I had the feeling that the one who cleans the rooms only had a look in the rooms without doing anything.

For breakfast you really have to be in time. They put all away very punctually.

And when you really need a sleep you can't because it is to loud. The windows are direct to the main street and if it warm outside you can't close them as well as you can hear the music from the bar.

From my point of view it is not worth to stay.

I got the offer and it was a good price to pay. I was on the 1st floor, it was 10 to a room (spacious) with two bathrooms and two toilets. Which I thought was cool. I like the location and all, but the last night I was standing outside the subway station talking to a friend (maybe it was my fault cause it was late) and we saw this kid hitting this other kid and the next thing we know, the kid whom got hit fell flat on his face and blood was oozing from his face, like oozing real fast. Which I thought was pretty freaky and we were walking back to the hostel and, it look like a place where lotsa people take drugs and go high and stuff like that. Not my kind of area. Not after seeing two beat-up events in one night.

I turned up here after travelling around europe, and found the place was one of the better hostel that i've stayed in.

Everthing was clean and the staff were really friendly and very quickly i felt at home and had a wicked time.

Camden town it self is a realy cool joint and the hostel is right on the main street near all the action. You also have the world famous markets just up the road.

But the best thing is they have some great 241 deals in the Belushi's bar down stairs and one of them is VB. Also everyone staying here gets 10% discount off all the drinks anyway. On friday and saturday night the Belushi's bar stays open till 2am with live DJ's and lots of fun and friendly people.

Overall i recomend this place to all backpakers who are up for a laugh!

PS over here Foster's is a really nice beer compered to the dunnie water we call foster's back home!

The hostel has a pretty decent location. It's close to the underground station, and it's easy to get to the city center. The area itself is cool, and there is a lot to do at night. Plus, the bar downstairs turns into a pretty good after hours club. The facilities are decent, although the showers are basically just closests in the rooms without curtains so your stuff kind of gets wet. But, overall, it is a good place to stay.

Just came back from St Christophers Camden and have to say I'd recommend it. I booked it on the internet and got a great deal on my room (£7.50 per night). The staff were wicked and they had some great hostel meals available for £3.50 a go. Additionally its just being redecorated and looks clean and new. Check it out!

my initial impressions of this place was good. very friendly atmosphere, decent price. that was during the day. even the adjoining bar looked nice to hang out in with mediocre prices (f3.50 avg when I was there). at night, however, the bar turns into a full blown packed dance club and when staying on the first floor, you'll that there was not much money or effort spent on sound insulation. (OK, I was there during the weekend - weekdays might be better)

although there is a card-swipe security system, the multiple exit/entry and night club makes everything less secure. (Hint for the swipecard. Swipe *slowly*.) overall, atmosphere was good but the wrong corners were cut (ex: the bar/hostel layout was not well-thought out & the bartender acts as receptionist).

Camden is a good place to stay in London, and this hostel is pretty sound, the rooms are ok, the staff not a bad lot on the whole, but it is pretty pricey if the bigger rooms are full, as they were when I stopped there.

The bar is alright, but it is not really a backpackers bar, catering mainly to the general public. You get a discount on drinks if you are staying in the hostel, but they still turn out expensive in comparison with the bars in most backpackers I have stayed in ; the Generator, near Russell Square, has a much cheaper deal in their hostel bar!

Stayed here for a couple of nights in June (Jubilee Weekend) and had no problems. The place is clean, with a chill out room downstairs which is always friendly. It wasn't as pricey when I went... I paid £16 a night in an 8 bed room ensuite, my mates paid a tenner for room in a ten bed dorm. (TIP book by phone- I booked over the internet and was only offered the more expensive ensuite room). A word of warning though- the keycard lock on my door was broken. This may not be too much of an issue (you need a keycard to get into the hostel) but an Aussie lass from my room did get her wallet stolen the day before I arrived...

All in all I found it a cheap, friendly place to stay in the best part of London!
