BUG Review
This place looks like a run-down high-rise apartment building that no one wants to live in. It's one of the biggest hostels in Europe so there's room for plenty of facilities like a TV room, bar, kitchen, pool tables etc. Ever been to a hostel with it's own police force? Well this place certainly takes security seriously! You can't sneak into this place without being stopped by at least one of the team of uniformed guards which patrol the grounds. Neither the hostel nor the neighbourhood have the atmosphere of the places closer to the centre. This hostel's location sucks! It is miles from anywhere in suburban south London. You have to take the tube to Stockwell station, then walk a good 15 to 20 minutes to get there. The area is even a bit dangerous by London standards and the only thing going for this part of town is the nearby pub, The Swan, which is one of London's top live music venues. Take the Victoria underground line in the direction of Brixton and get off at Stockwell (the second last stop). When you get out of the station, take a right on Clapham Road until you get to Jeffreys Road, then take a right at Larkhall Lane. If you can make it this far then you can't miss this place - it's the tall ugly building that looks like it should be condemned.

Ah, the warm memories I have of this place! The friendly staff, the service, the atmosphere!

I have been there ten years ago, but I clearly remember standing in line for an hour, having to submit my passport for security reasons, and going through a kind of interrogation before getting a room. I felt like an illegal alien sneaking through customs. When I told them the phones in the lobby were all out of order, they suggested I call (!) the phone company. Breakfast consisted of a single cancer-inflicting piece of toast burnt to a crisp.

Admittedly, this place is cheap so I didn't expect the Waldorff, but (to speak with the Pythons) I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition either.

i stayed in eurotower for an extended time. why? it was cheap, it was fun (for a while) and it was huge. *** EDITED TO COMPLY WITH BUG'S REVIEW GUIDELINES *** security guards, who by the way were a little dim. easy to sneak past with an illegal guest. the lift rarely worked, the cleaners at the time were *** EDITED TO COMPLY WITH BUG'S REVIEW GUIDELINES *** (of course that has changed now, bet they still get paid a pitence) but it was cold, cold, cold. London winters are bad enough without having windows that don't close properly on the 14th floor. stockwell itself was a great area, with fantastic friendly locals. pityabout the management of the hostel.eurotower can be a place of much depression, for the guests and the employees. 2 stars, perhaps i'm being generous.

This place is like a prision surrounded by razor wire on the walls and guarded by South Africa thugs. It's a dump, it's in a bad location, the nitelife sucks, the locals suck, basically I wouldn't stay here unless they paid me.

Did I say the rooms were really small, the lift was always broken, this really sux especially if they put you on the upper floors or if you are carrying a heavy pack, or if you are pissed.

The only up side is that it's dirt cheap, considering the facilities they couldn't realistically charge more for it anyway.

I'm used to travel with a minimum of cash and I was going to London to work while travelling through Europe. So I had to find a cheap place to live. It was in 1998 and Eurotower was the cheapest place you could find. I stayed in a four bed room with great people from all over the world. The partying was non-stop and it was fabulous. I recommend it to people that doesn't need too much comfort in life. There's a restaurant and a bar inside. The laundromat is not far from The Swan, an Irish Pub where the pint of Guiness is 1 pound on Mondays...Well, for me it was perfect! I have managed to stay two months in London, having fun while meeting great people all because of that place!

I grew up in NYC(alpha-bet city),that is lower east side for those of you who dont know. I'm use to living in crummy run down places and felt right at home. This a pretty safe neighberhood compared to it U.S. counterparts, but still watch your back around here. What can i say about the place other then i loved it. Cheap, a bar that stays open to the last person leaves and some of the nicest people i have meet in europe. The beds are on the crappy side and the bathrooms are ok, but i only paid 95 pounds a week for a private room. I have to admit though i have not been back there in a couple of years so it could of changed.
