i liked this hostel becasue it is ont he street with 2 other hostels of the same company, so you can go down to belushis and have fun in the bar and meet people. but when you want to sleep or chill out you can go back to the rooms in the orient and have a great nights sleep. the rooms was nice and we were in the female only section which is great and fun. int he showers are stuff like shower gel and shampoo and no guys are allowed in this section! there is no communal room in this hostel, but you can sit in the cafe with free tea and coffee which was nice. we also liked the hot tub and the steam room at the village! met some nice people and the staff were great. really great location too.

As mentioned by other reviewers, we checked into the Orient Espresso because it was supposed to be quiet hostel. Unfortunately the hostel is located on a very busy street with a hospital around the corner, so there is quite a bit of noise. The beds were really awfull, you could feel the springs sticking into your back. The shower was okay and relatively clean, but did have those push buttons, which I'm not too fond off. All in all, not the best place to get some well deserved rest after a long day in the city.

The fact that you can use the facilities of the other hostels is handy, and the staff was relatively friendly and helpfull. The location was great, right in the city centre and with the metro station right next door. But because of the noise and the beds it's not a place I'd recommend.

With in walking distance to Tower of London and even a great Art Gallery called the Tate, which is right across from St Pauls Cathedral and the area had lots of free or budget things to do. the hostel has a Coffee shop and internet downstairs & they have three buildings in the same street, and you get to use the facilities at the other building =The Village ...including the Hottub and sauna. Plus the other two buildings have a brilliant Pub and a Late night Club...The rooms were great with no huges dorms and the building was quiet enough, with clean showers and toilets. ...just one bit of advise the Check in is at The Village 24hr Reception...but you get a key card that gives you acess all hrs to your building and room

This was the worst hostel I have stayed at in Europe. We had a horrible experience. We chose this hostel because it was supposed to be quiet. Well, it was the furthest thing from. We were in a six bed room and we were next to the street. The street noise was so loud and did not stop. No one in the room was able to sleep.

The room had a foul smell to it which was probably caused by someone not showering since the shower was nasty. It had clumps and clumps of hair (both days), the tile was black with dirt, and you had to hold the knob in the entire shower to keep the water coming.

After one night, we realized we could not stay all three nights, so we asked if we could get a refund on the third night. They said no which I was fine with since I had prepaid. However, she asked what room and bed I was in and acted like she was checking to ensure this. She typed stuff into the computer and then said, nope...sorry nothing I can do. Again, that was fine.

We decided we would stay the second night and then sleep in, leave our stuff in the room until 6, and then take the train out of the city since we had already paid for the third night.

GUESS AGAIN! My sister was woken up by the cleaning lady asking if she was leaving. Then, I found my bed made. Finally, our keys stopped working! I went to the front desk and they said we canceled our third night!!! NO WE DIDN'T! We asked for a refund, when they said no, we said okay and left! We never mentioned canceling! Then we found out that they gave our beds to other people so they got double money for that night. We were lucky that we actually were leaving otherwise I don't know where we would have slept!

Finally, no one told us anything about the other hostels. We didn't even hear about a hot tub or a kick back lounge until we got back home.

the room and bathrooms were shared but clean and no hassle at all

a very pleasent surprise.

I stayed here for a week and found it to be relaxing, clean and airy. The big faults I found with it was that there were no electricity sockets in my room. As I was job hunting -this was bad as I couldn't charge my phone to receive calls, couldn't use a hairdrier so that I would look ok - and there was no mirror in the room either but maybe that was a good thing seeing as I must have looked a mess without a hairdrier! Other bad point is that you have to go to a different hostel down the road for breakfast and for checking in.

Staff are very nice and helpful and the location is good

I dont know what the other review was talking about, I just stayed there in June 2003 and the place was great. A relaxed little hostel above a coffee shop with nice staff, internet access, cheap (and good) food, which you get a discount on. Plus you could use the Hot Tub (yes a hot tub and it's as much fun as it sounds) or visit the bar and pub for the locations down the street, then go back to your nice quiet hostel just down the road. It was also right by the subway and two 24hr stores. I feel bad for the other review cause I had a great time at the Orient.

:)

I found my stay at this hostel pretty good. It was quiet and clean. I also enjoyed talking with the staff in the coffee shop as they to were travelers and new alot of information about the surrounding area. And as for price it was no more expensive than anything else in londo

We stayed one night at this hostel in a private room. There was no curtains in the window so people in the building next to our room were almost in our room... The cleanliness of the room was OK. The worst thing about this hostel is definitely the noise. We had a guitar player next to our room who played his instrument during the night. The breakfast was disappointing. When we arrived in the dining room for the breakfast, there was no more coffee and almost nothing to eat.

The hostel was also very expensive. We had to pay 6 sterling pounds more than it was supposed according to our online booking.
