It was okay. I found St Chris Greenwich to be well placed and well stocked with lots of things to do. The showers were cold though.I am looking to reunite with Leanne and Michelle from South Africa who stayed at St. Chris Greenwich wwith their male friend during X-mas and new years of 2003/2004. I think of you often Leanne. Really want to catch up with you. I was shy and I should have been more open to you. I miss you! :o)

Location: Not close to the city, but next to (like literally next building over) the Greenwich DLR station . Couldn't hear any noise from the DLR though, thankfully.Rooms: Slightly cramped. I wouldn't feel very comfortable alone staying there alone (I was in an 8-bed mixed room with 4 friends). Bring your own lock for under-bed locker. My bed was next to the radiator and it was very warm. They do provide a (incredibly flat) pillow, a duvet, and a fitted sheet. The room was very clean. The bunk beds reminded me of kids' beds and were rather creaky.Bathrooms: Toilet/sink room was ok, a little dirty though. Showers: UGH! First, the shower room was freezing cold. Most of the handles on the doors were broken and most of the doors didn't have any kind of hooks to hang stuff on. You have to push a button to turn the water on (like the sinks that turn off automatically) and it turns off in about 20 seconds, so you have to keep pushing the button. I found if I turned around and pressed my back on the button while shampooing I got the water to stay on, but this was annoying to have to do. The shower heads spray more out than down, so you be prepared to get blasted with cold water on your first try. The showers were clean however; I took a shower around 7:30am and they had been freshly cleaned. Also, I didn't have to wait for a shower (I was showering between 7 and 8 am both mornings).Etc: The chill-out room does smell somewhat but there is a small collection of books and movies, a TV (with basic BBC), lots of futons and tables, and pay-internet (5p per minute). 'Breakfast' consisted of corn flakes, milk, and instant coffee/hot chocolate/tea. There is a nice little coffee/sandwich shop next door and a very small convenience/grocery store across the street. The front desk guy was quite nice and helpful, though he disappeared when we needed to check-out at 9:30 (10:00am is check-out time). Conclusion: If you try to book a bed in London for more than 4 people the Monday before a weekend trip, you will probably end up here. It wasn't the worst experience ever but if you book early you can do better in London. And it was my first time so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Great place with a really cool team, the place rocks at night and Greenwich must be Londons best kept secret. There is bags to do and the market is great. I paid £10 a night here and I got an all I could eat breakfast with toast; vegimite, jams and cereals. I am off to France now but I will be back !!!!

I stayed on August 11th, 2003 and escaped on 12th. This month I received credit card balance and they charged me 10 pounds. I paid there IN CASH though! I forwarded message to them about this but hasn't received a reply yet. So eventually I paid 20 quids for one night in addition to cancellation fee 10quids! It is enormously annoying. So I do not recommend this place. This kind of place may be cheap but disorganized! (when some troubles happen, they are not helpful.) The room and other place wasn't very dirty but I felt uncomfortable. Furthermore, it is far from centre and if you visit London first time I recommend registered youth hostels or LSE university dormitories at zone 1. Cost more but far cleaner and nicer. I moved there and felt like human being! The Euston hostel was new and nice. For shower room I should keep pressing the button. I've never seen before this kind of stuff in England! (I used to stay in England more than two years.)And yes the chill-out room stinks.

We stayed in a twin room for a couple of days. I guess prisons are equipped like this: two iron beds (one on top of the other one), a waste bin, a small piece of metal on which you could hang your clothes (but here were only two hangers!), one chair. No table, nothing else! The heating was great and everything was very clean but the room was very very basic! At least, it was spacy...There were three separate showers and we tried them all. You have to push the buttoms a few times and rush out of the shower to avoid a cold shower. After a while you'll get hot water, but don't forget to press the buttom permanently. The water comes only from the top so you always get wet hair! In some of the showers the water supply was not sufficient. There are three or four toilets in another room. You can lock the doors but you hear the neighbor next door very well. In this room there are also a few sinks. This area was also very clean.Bedrooms, toilets and showers are all very close to each other and are located on the first floor. The common room in the basement has no daylight and it permanently smells from smoke. If you are unlucky sb has turned on the TV very loud at a very early hour (when I am hardly awake). Breakfast? Get the water from a tiny sink in the restroom next door (how disgusting!) and boil it yourself. Get a plastic bag - it includes a slice of white toast bread, one little pack of margarine and jam plus a plastic knife. If you are unlucky sb has taken your jam or margarine. But there are porcellain plates and cups! And you can grab a tea bag or coffee power (solutable coffee powder that is). The furniture in the basement should be replaced immediately. It looks very old and worn out!The pub on the ground floor is interesting but - of course - full of smoke. On weekends it is very loud - and the rooms are directly above the pub so you can "take part" in the pub even from your bed.The staff was very friendly and tried to keep everything clean - but next time I would choose another hostel.

This hostel was pretty nice place to stay for a few nights. The bathrooms and showers were nice and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the people were friendly. However, the hostel was pretty far from the city center. Also, the common room smelled pretty bad. But, overall, it was a nice place, plus, if you book through the internet it is really cheap, about 10 pounds.

This was a nice little hostel with a great atmosphere. The pub downstairs was busy on Friday and Saturday nights. It was very close to the tube station and a small supermarket. My only complaints were the showers (they were the type you have to push every couple of seconds...you pretty much had to keep one hand on it all the time) and the lack of cooking facilities. Good value for your money though.

This a great place and I mean both the place & the Hostel. There is so much to see and do here, where time first started ! the park in fantastic, the links to the center of London are just 8min Take a travel pass which is cheap. We took a lego type train to the docklands, where there are som meny shops, and bars-not to be missed. The hostels has a pub, and a theatre all in the same building. We spent 3 days hereand could have spent more, clean frendly, good food ! and FUN we will be back.
