On entering the hostel, you are immediately drawn to the stained carpets, wearing thin in places and the very old grubby dirty looking decoration. The colour scheme for both of these showed no colour co-ordination either, which varied throughout the hostel as a mixture of dark mucky coloured orange with grey patterned carpet and a variety of other mis-matches.

I Booked a family room for 2, (22nd - 25th August 2008). On checking in, was told I had to change rooms after the first night because that was the only way they could have accommodated my booking, there was no pre-warning to this?

The first room was in the old block and was filthy. The curtains were stained with something which looked like pooh and the one curtain pulled across did not cover the window. To conjure up the image, the room is perhaps comparible to a room to let that landlords try and let to potential students, full of old mis-matched furniture, a chair slashed down both sides revealing it's stuffing inside and mountains of dust. We could not lock the door and clearly the lock was faulty. Stay clear of room 25!! Room 21 was a little better but still on the same parr as the first.

Saturday and Sunday night housed a party with a rather loud karaoke in the room somewhere beneath us, which banged on until about 11 ish both nights. It was truly awful.

The toilets and showers were adequate, with replenished toilet rolls and soap, though the facilities were all dated and the toilet holder fell down and hit my head when I pulled a bit of toilet tissue off!

The breakfast was basic but not too bad, but because of the cleanliness within the hostel, eating was not a very pleasurable experience. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. It is one to avoid.
