First the goodpoints:

Cleanish, good location as right on the beach, secluded with great clifftop walks, some really nice staff who went out of their way to feed and water us beer included when we arrived late at night - (there are no shops for miles).

Points to note:

No car access. Car parking is at the top of a hill, you then walk down to the hostel, not a big problem but be aware for children or disabled as it's pretty steep going back up.

Part of the accomodation is in an annexe - again tough for people with prams - check this out when booking.

Public transport is pretty minimal.

School groups frequent the hostel.

Minus points:

Thre are no reading lights so sharing means going to sleep without reading.

The food is pretty standard, cheap ingredients are used and it shows.

The kitchen is narrow & stunk. There is a lack of utensils ie one teapot and one sieve. We tried to cook with only one other person using the kitchen and we had to dodge out of the way and wait until they had finished with the sieve.

The beer is sold at 66% profit - £2.50 a bottle, same stuff £1.50 at the co-op in Whitby.

To find -don't turn off at Robin Hood's Bay, stay on the main Scarborough road the hostel is signposted from there.

Overall great if you have a car or bike but make sure you take a wheeled suitcase and fill it full of beer and snacks.

Beautiful food, I would definitely go there again. Check it out sometime. Lovely scenery, the sea air was great. Clean, modern bedrooms.

Overall a very comfortable and reasonably priced stay on the Yorkshire coast.
