i stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and i didn't want to check out because it' s a very nice place to stay!it's clean and very good for socializing in the kitchen and in the dining room, it's quite central and well connected with the city centre.moreover i fell in love with the wonderful helsinki sky from the little hill beside the hostel...and what can i say about the nature around and the incredible meetings with rabbits, foxes and squirrels ??if i will return to helsinki i surely return at stadion hostel!

Stayed here over easter, was ok. Easy to find from airport if get finnair bus and get off where they say. Only about 20 mins walk from city so not too bad. No keys etc for rooms. Agree with last post about the stink of the toilets. Typical HI hostel, lacks atmosphere, familiy/older people oriented. Kitchen too crowded, didnt try cafe. OK and about the cheapest place in Helsinki.

I stayed in this hostel in June this year. It was alright there. The whole hostel was rather clean and the beds were good. You can't lock the dormitories though, so I don't recommend leaving any valuables there when you're out.

This hostel was alright for me, I wouldn't have a problem with staying there again.

I stayed there for 3 nights in June. I've just read the previous reviews. Lockers in my dorm were satisfactory and I was issued with a keycard to the room. I did not like the locking out during the day for cleaning - but you learn to live with it. Shower rooms/toilets need a sanitary engineer to fix up the aweful, pervasive stink which is quite nauseous. I tried a couple of the bathrooms and they were the same. Bed was comfortable, kitchen crowded at times - some hostellers are real messy in the kitchen. Various staff were friendly. Internet expensive. I didn't try the cafe.

I found it a bit of a walk from the station and the map a bit confusing. Once I got there I learnt the short cut to town passed the sports stadiums.

I expected this hostel to be better. The first issue is the security - especially the lockers which are not secure at all, and the dorm room doors are never locked. Another issue is the bathrooms - be warned, they only have communal showers. I guess some people don't mind this, but I know others, including myself, find this a bit uncomfortable. If I had have known this I very much doubt I would have opted to stay here! On the plus side, the staff were helpful and made an effort with all the enquiries I had.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The front door is open all of the time. If you stay in a dorm room, you don't even get a key to the room. It is just unlocked all the time! The lockers are easily broken into. While I was there at least three girls had their passports, discmans, etc. stolen from their lockers. The washrooms are really smelly and dirty. Only go here if you have NO other options.

Stayed here Summer of 2002 for a night on my way to St. Petersberg and found it to be nothing special. Friendly staff and basic ammenities. Rooms are quite plain, and washrooms simple, but if you are not expecting too much, or are out of options in Helsinki, this place is pretty good. A bit of a hike from town, although there are many trolleys that go up the hill towards the Stadion.

All bashful women turn your ear - if you cant imagine disrobing with your mates, dont stay here. There are no shower curtains. Their showers are set up like mens locker room showers - just faucets on walls, no dividers, nothing.

I guess I was a little shy to like this.

I would not recommend this hostel in general. It is not very far from the city centre ( and there are buses connections). But the facilities are too old and I did not have any sense of confort at any moment. Common rooms are not specially clean and the rule of silence at night was not maintained at all.
