This was the first hostel for my trip and it wasn't bad.location: not great. Had to take a bus for 20 minutes from the train station. on holidays (may 5 was a bad day to be staying at the hostel) buses run once in the morning to town, and return once in the evening. If you have to walk it it's probably a 60 minute walk. When i biked it, it took about 15 minutes to bike.maintenance, cleanliness: good. this is an HI place. facilities: This is a converted old school house. 2 stories. there is a dining room, a minimally furnished rec room with few books, a table and some chairs. this is where we hung out. Either here or the picnic table outside. Kitchen has 2 fridges, heating elements, pots, pans, cups and the lot.Covered bike rack outside.sleeping: lower floor. 2 big rooms with bunk beds. one for each gender. Log pillow and Blanket. Bring your own sheet or rent one from the lady. No lockers.bathroom: outside in a separate building. almost semi warm water necessitating fast showers. clean. toilets have seats! No soap provided. security: minimal. during non-lockout hours anyone can walk anywhere in the hostel except for the room where the lady who runs the place sleeps. Total lockdown during the lockout hours - after 9 or 10 am to 5 i think and after 11 pm till morning.Overall, decently clean, small hostel - they have 40 beds or so total. Social. Breakfast is hot choco, tea, bread with jam and butter, if you pay for it. Kinda far away from the city centre so be prepared. It would have been a lot nicer to stay if possible in Blois proper. Could envision returning.

The hostel is located in the outskirts of Blois, pretty much in the middle of the forest. However, the very old cozy house has a very good kitchen, a social room and picnic tables where you can talk to the people there and use the conversation starter "how did we end up here in the middle of nothing?". The showers are in a different building, but all the facilities are clean. There's not much to do in Blois at night, so try to catch the last bus cuz the social interaction is gonna be at the hostel. Good breakfast, however, the lady who runs the place seems like she's been into the business for way too much. She doesn't smile, she barely speaks english and she gets pissed at you if u don't have the HI card. A pretty good place to stay, I'd stay here again for sure.

This hostel is located in a quiet, pleasant residential area several kilometers from the Blois town center. A bus line connects the hostel to the SNCF rail station and city center, but service is infrequent and stops early, so you had better expect a long walk or taxi ride back if you wish to stay out late. Self-caterers should note that there are few services located near the hostel, so pick up supplies before you arrive.The hostel facilities are tolerable, but not optimal. The kitchen is fairly well equipped and the front yard includes a picnic table that promotes a pleasant socialable environment. But the bathrooms are poor, located in a ramshackle shed-like building outside of the main building, and only one large bedroom per gender -- the box design of the bunks provides reasonable privacy, but the high bed count in each room (24, I believe) ensures that someone will be snoring the night away none too far away. The older woman who served as warden during my stay was gruff and seemed none too thrilled with her work.Staying here is a matter of priorities -- the low price and cozy social aspects of this hostel are contrasted by its below-average facilities and remote location. Those not traveling solo might find it better and just as cost effective to stay in a low-priced pension/hotel in town than to make the trek out to this hostel.
