I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights in June 2005. The welcome was excellent when I arrived but dont expect a welcome outside the published opening hours. The 11pm curfew didnt seem to be enforced while I was there. The Hostel's location is excellent about halfway between the train station and town centre, both at about 5 mins walk. The facilities downstairs consist of the reception area, a kind of dining room, some unisex toilets and a kitchen, in a seperate building, in the hostel grounds with some outside seating. The kitchen was not up to much and was quite dirty. The bedrooms were, in my opinion, fine. My dorm had 4 (squeaky) beds, a table and a cupboard. There were 2 windows for ventilation however there was quite a lot of external noise (Dual Carriageway, Police Dog Kennels and Hostel residents in courtyard) although my sleep was never disturbed by noise. In fact one day I overslept till after 10.15 (after the hostel shut for the day) the staff were OK about it and just asked me to leave ASAP. Unlike a previous review, no music was played in the mornings to wake pople up. Rooms were kept locked with a key. Washrooms - The Men had access to 3 showers and 4 cold taps. Privacy was reasonable in the showers but not great and they flooded quite easily. There was plenty of warm water. Toilets- guys had access to 2 squat, hole in the ground toilets upstairs and the unisex toilets downstairs which consisted of one squat toilet and one sit down toilet. However the sit down toilet was in such a small cubicle that as a 6ft guy with size 13 feet i physically could not sit on this toilet due to the proximity of the front of the toilet to the door (my legs and feet didnt fit in between) so I had to use the squatters. I also got caught out when one of the toilets ran out of paper, so remember to check before you sit (or squat)!!!

This used to be a great hostel when it was under former management up to 2 years ago. It was totally eccentric but great fun, the outside area and kitchen is super and very social. However, last time I went there it was being managed by a young french guy who seemed to think his only role there was to practice his English - annoying if you speak French and are travelling in France. Regimentation had increased and it had lost a lot of its personality and charm. I was personally very chargrined to find it had changed ownership. Very conveniently located in Perpignan

I thought the staff was friendly and accommodating. They have an outside seating area with a nice atmosphere for sitting and talking with the other guests. The downside is that there is a lot of outside noise from cars passing by. It didn't bother me, but it bothered my friend.

I stayed at this hostel for one night, then got the hell out of there. And everyone else I met that night did the same thing. This place was a nightmare. This is a few points about why we left:-shares a fence with a police dog training facility!-at 7:30am they turned the radio on full ball on the loud speakers throughout the hostel to force everyone out of bed before the 9am curfew-the employees were rude, abrupt, unhelpful and a bit odd to say the least (one old guy only seemed to be able to speak to you if he was screaming at the top of his lungs because he seemed upset about something? 24/7On the upside it was very clean, but other then that this is the worst place I stayed when I was in europe.
