BUG review
This small hostel has two highlights - having a fantastic location just a few minutes’ walk from the nightlife hotspot of Bastille, and having no curfew. Otherwise, the dorms are less than spectacular, the bathrooms are a bit grimy, and most of the reception staff are cold and unfriendly. The common room is really just a dining area, and the only thing in the kitchen you can use is the microwave. The interior decoration is boring, and there is no television. But you’re still likely to meet other budget travellers in the lobby, so if you stay here, be sure to take advantage of all the area has to offer, and use this as a place to crash after your late night bar hopping on Rue de Lappe.

I spent a night in this hostel recently because I hadn't managed to find a discounted rate in a proper hotel. It was a waste of money, and I would have been better off spending the night in a brasserie near Les Halles.
The staff is extremely unfriendly. When I booked, they didn't realise I was French (I live in the UK). When I arrived, they realised their mistake, and nearly kicked me out: my passport still shows my previous address in Paris, so they enquired why I didn't spend the night there, and then whether I didn't have any relatives to stay with. You would have thought I was a tramp, asking for a free bed!
My dorm was fairly quiet (jetlagged American girls, including one who had been molested by a Northern African guy the day before and no longer dared go out in the evening), but the dorms around ours were full of binge drinking party animals. The noise went on all night and it was impossible to get any sleep. The dorm was extremely stuffy, and it was extremely hot throughout the night. The window was really tiny, and it was impossible to let the door open to create a draught, because some of the British guys staying in the dorm nearby were looking to 'score'.
The whole building is ancient and if you want to take a proper shower, you'd better head to the nearest swimming pool. As to the kitchen... it is non existent.

This was the first hostel we stayed in in Paris. I enjoyed the flexible curfew..I got sick one day and stayed in bed all day...the staff didnt kick me out or even seem to notice. The room we had was large and had cool windows that overlooked a beautiful garden area. Like most hostels in Paris, the bathrooms and rooms are co-ed, so that was a bit startling, but I got used to it. (Hello, strange man shaving while I shower! Weird.) The location is supposedly by all these bars, but we werent super into that so the loud, drunk people in the hall at 4am were sorta annoying (but I was getting sick too, so I was grumpy) All in all, its an ok hostel and cleaner than most. On the right bank, its little out of the way of things you might want to see, like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, and the street its on is kind of dull, but with the Metro...which is just down the block, everything is a train ride away.
