BUG Review
This tiny hostel is located just around the corner from Gare de Lyon and well-connected metro lines. It attracts a lively international crowd, and is just a ten minute walk from the hopping nightlife of Bastille. Though alcohol is not permitted on site, the common area with internet and a large-screen TV (always tuned to the music channel), as well as the tables outside, makes for a good meeting point for travellers on their way into the city for a night out. Facilities are very limited, some of the showers are old and dirty, and the staff are a bit cold. There is secure luggage storage if you leave later than the checkout time.

I stayed here one night because the hostel I was at was booked for the night. They called this place up and reserved a room. Blue Planet is in a reasonably good location, but a bit far from the center of the city. The room I stayed in was an 8-person room. Nothing wrong with the room, lots of light coming from the two windows. Sheets cost 2 euro to rent, and the price was 25 euro for a bed. They also rent towels for 2 euro. One room key makes it a hassle, and so you have people knocking at odd hours of the night. The bed lighting (while nice to have) was useless. Shower looked like it wasn´t very clean, and the toilet wasn´t any better. I felt like it was a pretty dirty hostel, and at 27 euro for the sheets, it was only 3 euro cheaper than the Maubuisson MIJE hostel (excluding a lame 3,50 euro membership fee). I´d pay an extra few euro.
Pros:
Right next to Gare de Lyon
Cons:
Practically everything else

The first night I got into Paris I tried to get into MIJE (which is probably the best choice in Paris) and they sent me here. Here's some advice: Never let a nice hostel book another room for you in a different place. They'll always send you to a crap place. The place was fairly dirty all around. Rooms, showers, toilet. Way too expensive for what it was. The difference in a nice Paris hostel and a terrible one is only a few euros. Splurge. The strangest thing about this place was that there was only one key per room. This in itself is nothing strange but there was no way to keep the door unlocked. Meaning that if one person had the key and is in the room, the other person has to knock to be let in. So if the other person is in the shower it causes a hassle on both ends. Imagine trying to get into the room at 3 am.When I was there in late June I stayed in a room with four beds which were all taken. The problem being that they booked five people into the four bed room. At first everyone thought it was a mistake until noticed a spare mattress shoved under one of the beds. They charged the guy 20+ euro and then expected him to sleep on the floor. Crap place all around.
