I stayed at the hotel this summer , I found the staff friendly and patient , especially with my French . They were always helpful with advice of where to go & where not to go . The room was always kept clean & tidy , anything I left lying about was always tidied up into a neat pile , including my money down to the last cent . The showers are 2€ , but I consider that resonable seeing what you pay for the room . The court yard atmosphere is friendly & inviting . I would recommend the hotel to anyone & will be staying there again myself
Pros:
Really Close To Station
Cons:
Paying For Shower

I'll give this place credit for one thing, it is really easy to find as it is straight across the road from the station. We only stayed here for a night last October and were really tired after travelling all day so didn't get to sample the atmosphere in the courtyard which looked full of people.
The hostel itself is basic in the extreme, the lights in the hallway are on timer switches and don't give you enough time to get all the way to the top floor. The double room was cramped, small and right at the top of the building, so the roof sloped down (lucky none of us are tall or we'd all have sore heads!)
I don't really like having to pay for a shower as I think it should be part of the service provided by a hostel and I like it even less when I have to pay for a shower and have to deal with grumpy staff who won't unlock the shower for me just because I was showering early in the morning. €3 for less than five minutes in the shower is not my idea of good service.
Didn't really stay long enough to see if this hostel was any good but on the short lenght of time I spent there I don't want to.

I was robbed in this hostel by the personal that works in the hostel. It was just a black Tshirt from Firenze but the fact that they open my things to rob something makes me tell you: don't go to this place!!

I didn't have a good time here, but it wasn't anything the hostel did wrong. It was more about the crowd. I was passing through, whereas almost everybody else staying there was into sunbathing and relaxing. Make sure you bring your sunglasses and bathing suite to Nice - you're gonna need them...Pros: 1. Rediculously close to the train station. Walking to the beach could take 10 minutes, but the city is beautiful and pleasant to walk through.2. My room had high ceiling, four single beds and a shower. It cost accordingly (20).3. Staff is fluent in English. As for their French - well... nobody's perfect :)Cons:1. It's possible to find cheaper places.2. Other rooms had more beds in them, lower ceilings and the hallway shower was costly.3. The courtyard thing - doesn't really work. And as mentioned, the type of travelers there is a little different than what you'd find anywhere else in western Europe.

I stayed in a double room, not clean enough and very very old and dirty wardrobe. Too pricey for its quality. OK it's 2 minutes to the station, its garden is nice and usually people meet and talk there. Breakfast is

It's not the nicest or newest place around but its close to the train station and a fun place to stay. They over booked so I was put in the "TV room" (which was oddly lacking a TV), this room was right in the open ady anyone could have and did walk in. Soon I found that to be alright though, as it made me realize how cool and safe this hostel was. Quickly met a great group of people and we all spend most of the night on the beach, except this one dude who acted like he worked there but he didn't, kinda of wierd guy, no one could figure him out. Although I'd call it a dingy place, it was still very homie and comfy. I don't know how, but it was a great place, guess you'll have to find out yourself.

I stumbled on this place summer 2002 and have spent more than 12 weeks there since. The staff is great and the courtyard encourages guests to drink, party and go out together. there are many regulars and repeat guests with more joining the ranks every week of the summer. Breakfast is free and served outdoors, unless its raining-which is very rare.it is very close to the train station and NOT in a red light district, very quiet at night. The bithcy swedish girl who worked there is gone and the staff is now very accomodating.Would highly reccomend this place to anyone who wants to save a few dollars while having a great time!!!

I stumbled upon this hotel by blind luck only and ended up having the time of my life. Intended on staying for 3 days but didn't leave until 10, if that tells you anything. The people were so genial and energetic that it was usually sunrise by the time we got back to the hotel. very social clientele and an excellent courtyard. I highly reccomend this place in Nice.

Well, the location is really close to the train station which is good. It's a bit of a walk to 'Old Nice' where all the action is, but if you don't like to walk then you shouldn't be in Europe in the first place. We had a 3 person private room for 19 euro each the last week of Sept. 2003 with a private bathroom and shower. That is really good. I think others we met staying in dorms were paying from 14-16 euro plus 2 euro for a 5 minute shower so it's worth getting your own room, but book in advance. Our room was clean and comfy and the courtyard is a great place to meet people and chill out. You must vacate the courtyard at 10pm, but at that point after some cheap wine you are ready to head to Vieux Nice anyway. It is NOT located in the red light district. In fact we must vacate the courtyard because it is residential and backpackers tend to get loud in big drunken groups. The location is actually very quiet at night with very little people around. Also, there is no curfew but there is a 'secret code' that you will learn about when you check in...it is kind of a running joke with those who've stayed there, but I'd reccomend to those who have stayed there not openly publishing what this 'code' is on the web and complaining about security issues. Do you really think telling the world how to get into the hotel at night will make it any safer for future backpackers? At any rate I felt totally safe there and would stay again. I never woke up for breakfast so can't help you there. We stayed 3 nights.

"-- Dark-- Unfriendly Staff-- Nobody there -- BORINGThis "hotel" was a huge disappointment. i came to nice bc i had some time off and wanted to party and meet people. There was seriously ***NO*** socializing in this hotel. In fact, one night when people were actually outside playing guitar and chilling, the guard FREAKED out and made everyone go to their rooms. After 10 its like a convent. other: they kept the kitchen area dark at all times, you cant bring food or drink in, the breakfast consists of one croissant and a cup of coffee, the key is on a board outside the reception area... absolutely no security whatsoever. Location issues: The only good thing about the location is that its right near the train station. Just so yall know, its in the red light district and i actually saw some guy walking around wanker in hand. disgusting! its ok for a place to sleep but if possible, go to one of the others.
