When we first got here, we had been told that they accidentally overbooked, and had placed us in a priavte room at no extra charge (we were originally booked for some big dorm room)...a really nice private room for 25euro, not bad at ALL. There is an elevator, which is nice, and we got to our door and the door wouldn't UNLOCK. Well, it would, but it took us a good 15 minutes to unlock the door, i dont know what it was, stickiness or just us being stupid. But anyway...The room was really splended; it had one queen sized bed and then one full bed i think, with also a TV and a really, really wonderful, immaculate bathroom inside our room. Everything about the room looked clean. The location is WONDERFUL, near all the action, and the beach is a hop away. We were there on Bastille Day, so it was insane and so, so fun. There's no curfew, no lockout. The staff were really nice...upon checkout, we were in a rush to catch a plane, and i think it was David? who was working, no idea actually but anyway, he had just come into work as we were waiting to be checked out (really the only annoying thing that there was 1. not 24 hour reception and that he was late to begin with BUT) he didn't have change for us so he basically gave us another 5 euro discount, just a really nice gesture. There is good security (need a pin to get in when there is no reception)...no common area though, so no atmosphere, but it's okay because everything else was great and the city is at your feet, so why need atmosphere in the place yer just sleeping in?

The hostel has been completely renovated and is in perfect condition. All the rooms and bathroom are new and everything is clean. Its more like a 2 star hotel than a hostel. The location is great, you can actually see the beach from the place and when you come out of the door you are right in the middle of everything. The staff were awesome and really helpful. I would recommend the place to anyone.

The location is nice, really close to the beach and promenade des Anglais.16.6 euro per night in a dorm room is reasonable, but no breakfast. The room was a little cramped, and the door to the bathroom in my dorm room didn't close properly. Not much for atmosphere or meeting people, but the location and price were what I wanted. It wasn't noisy when I was there, so maybe the construction is finished.

I do not know if the other people hit on some work going on but I had a fantastic dorm room with new bathroom etc and the staff were fantastic. It was also cheap for the location. BEST LOCATION IN NICE compared to some other hostels that are 15 minutes by public transport to get to the beach. You can see the beach from Hotel Paradis. I certainly would not hesitate to go back.

I stayed there from 12th May to the 18th 2003 with my friend for travel to Cannes and Monaco.Nicholas (the guy on the front desk at the time) spoke perfectly good English while we was there as did everybody(despite what the last poster said), I guess they all cannot speak English when you want them too :-), but he never seemed to follow up things he said he would do very well. The intial room (20) on the third floor (private onsuite)was small and generally poor in condition?, it was however generally clean. We too where also woken up by workers at 7am every day and at 2am by some idiot upstairs throwing beer cans from their window the room had a fridge, TV and fan in it. We then had to extend our stay by two days due to other circumstances and the full price was never made clear to us despite several requests to Nicholas on the front desk. Strangely the chap on the front desk did not initially seem to understand what a travellers cheque was or wether they could take them or not, it took three days before he could get that sorted God knows why. The two guys doing the "building work" in the place at the time seemed unfriendly and did not speak to you, frankly they looked like a couple of illegal immigrants from Eastern Europe, this made me feel obliged to use my Pacsafe and chain my luggage to pipes when we went out just in case, I hasten to add nothing appeared to be touched on return though. We where then moved to room 23 at the front of the hostel which we had for the extra two days, this room had a faulty and dangerous power socket hanging off the wall, no fan and no fridge (the only other socket avaliable apart for one the telly used which was seven feet up the wall was in the bathroom), this dangerous socket was never fixed and made safe despite warnings to the owner and front desk. A large wooden board next to the bed was also coming apart from the wall, the third bed next to that board was in a state of collapse, the toilet seemed plumbed in at a wonky angle making you want to fall into the shower cubicle whenever you took a crap. The bidet had been removed next to the toilet and two pipes where left sticking out of the wall with some plastic shoved around them, to top it off you could not close the bathroom door because it did not fit properly. Overall some of the workmanship in the place looked like a schizophrenic cowboy did it. In fairness they where obviously repairing and rebuilding some rooms (hopefully with qualified people this time). The paradis hotel is in an excellent position in the heart of Nice but basically it is a place in real need of tidying up and while not a filthy place it did resemble a "half-way house", the owner and workers while nice enough people need to address the issues and problems instead of doing nothing and all but lettign the place run itself, this could be a very sweet little place but at the moment I cannot reccommend it as there are too many issues unsolved there. The only good thing was meeting Nicol an Britten who stayed there on the top floor, they where fun and Nicol was a sweety :-), hope you got to London okay !.Ian k.

Hotel Paradis is a nice place to stay, unless you want peace and quiet, expect to be able to enter your room at any time you like and expect hotel staff to respect your privacy. My friends and I had a horible experience here this last april. At 9 pm on the day we had checked in, we were disturbed to find our door to our hotel room was too big for its frame AFTER the front desk had closed. There was no phone number to call in case of an emergency, and we were basically screwed, and had no place to sleep. We were forced to set up camp in the hallway and try our best to sleep there. The situation got really bad when one of the girls started having an athsma atack (her inhalor was in the room, of course) and one of my friends ended up having to crawl through a small crawl space inthe celing to break into our room and open the door. Also, we were anoyed with the fact that the wing we stayed in was under construction and we were forced to wake each morning at 7:00 am to pounding, sawing, and gossiping/smoking construction workers. Furthermore, while we were away during the daytime, the construction workers had acess to our room (to use our bathroom) each day (although this was never mentioned to us). The male construction workers would leave our toilet seat up, AND leave us presents daily. As if this were not enough, when we confronted the manager of the hotel about all of this, he pretended not to speak English and literally walked away from us. We were offered less than an appology for any of this. Stay somewhere else.

I stayed here as it was the only female dorm room I could find to book over the internet. The small room had 4 beds and not much room to move about, but the ensuite bathroom was clean and towels were provided. There was a small fridge in the room, a table and wardrobe. It was a bit noisy at night as with 4 people the windows had to be left open. The reception were friendly and it is ideally located for the Promenade and bus station. It was 25 Euro per person.I would stay here again for the location as it was just across the road from one of the aiport bus drop offs.
