When I first arrived here I was slightly worried by the bus ride from the train station. But as soon as I called the hostel my mind was put at ease and the fun began. the staff were incredibly friendly and hands on (thanx nicky) and were really helpful in explaining maps to me. I normally find it hard to concentrate on cartography but who would have thought there was so much to see around this area. Indeed listneing to the explanation of the aforementioned maps saved time as i didn't have to actually visit the places. thats how vivid the descpription was. this left more time to relax and then party. this hostel was so good you could actually do both at once. it was one euro for a beer, and let me say this was no ordinary beer. it was champagne in a can. i tell you i have travelled through the seven continents, i have swum with peinguins, ridden dolphins through the andes mountains and touched the hand of god (albeit with a stick) and none of this compared to the villa.

I reccomend this hostel to everybody who like to meet up with new backpackers of the hole world. the big chapel bar is a bar in the evening and a common room the day. the breakfast is really the best in a hostel ive ever seen..Try the great German beer in cans, all drinks are 1 Euro (1.20 Dollars)!!!Ive u like to hear your music over your ipod loud, in the chapel, please do not hesitate to ask the friendly staff.

I was supposed to be staying in this place for three months as a student - I couldn't manage one night! The rooms, most of which appear to remain unrenovated, are filthy and bizarre (a huge window, next to a path, at ground level, minus curtains or shutters??!!). To be honest the, the staff are a joke. They cocked my booking up from day one, deciding I should share for a week with another fella, with rather unsavoury tastes in narcotics, this after confirming a single room! The current renovation work means builders wander into your room, while the lock on my door clearly didn't work, and I had no where secure to put my valuables! The owner, who tends to forget who you are in mid-sentence, is the least helpful of the lot! Plus they never picked me up as promised, and the place isn't exactly what you'd call central, though I knew this when booking. Where the website photos came from I have no idea

Bad news first: My room was filthy (the sheets hadn't even been changed from the last person staying there until I complained) and smelled like dirty socks, the ceiling of the shower room was swarming with flies, the location is very far from the city center and an ordeal to deal with the bus routes with all the construction, and forget even trying to use the free internet. The reception staff was horribly slow and messed up some reservations during my stay as well. However, I met some of the coolest people in the huge social room and the owners were fantastic in helping with local information, and will even drive you to or from the bus stops, if you're willing to wait. Breakfast was nice as well. The whole vibe of the place was great and I wouldn't hesitate to go back, but maybe in the low season when it isn't so crowded. and dirty.

This was a fairly nice hostel, although it did give us a few quirks along the way. First of all, it is far out of the city centre. This gives you a great view of the city, but also means you need to use a bus to get there (the bus also makes massive detours because the main road is under serious construction!). Make sure you call ahead and get them to pick you up from the bus stop - the walk up the hill to get to the hostel is murder with packs on. The owner is super friendly, giving as many tips as he has about Nice and the surrounding area. The room we had was very spacious, with 8 beds, shower, and toilet. However, the key to the room didn't work (in truth, the lock didn't lock). We also attempted to do laundry, but the staff told us that they do the laundry for us. However, don't bother with it. They didn't do our laundry and actually lost several people's things by accident. The breakfast is phenomenal (have the granola!) but the internet connection is painfully slow, and there is always a line-up for it because it is free. The pub is also cool, you can get fairly cheap drinks and just hang out, although it is smoky. The kitchen also seems to be well-equipped. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here.

The owners are extremely helpful and soo cute and friendly. The rooms were clean but the kitchen was OK in terms of cleanliness. The granola breakfast and bottomless cup of coffee was such a welcome change from other hostels.

What made my experience so different from everyone else's, you ask? I don't know, but please don't write it off just yet...I was excited to be staying here because of the reviews I'd read on BUG and the pictures I'd seen on their website, but the experience ended up being nothing like I had expected. It began with bad directions to the hostel (even though they advertise that they will pick you up when you get close, they told us to walk and ended up sending us a couple miles up a mountain past where we needed to be). When I called, looking for better directions as we were clearly lost, it took over half an hour before someone eventually answered the phone. The staff wasn't bad or rude, but they weren't nearly as friendly and helpful as I had expected from other reviews.Once we finally made it to the hostel, we found that the 10-bed room we had reserved actually had 28 beds in it, which meant I woke up the next morning with a strange, snoring guy sleeping within a foot of me.There were 2 toilets and 2 showers for this room of 28 people and about 10 other smaller dorm rooms to share, and they were perpetually dirty. One shower overflowed into the hallway every time it was used, and the other had bugs--both alive and smushed--covering the walls and celing. The comon room area was decent enough, and I could see where the pictures on their website had come from--maybe 5 years and many layers of dirt earlier. The only upside of this otherwise pretty miserable experience was the breakfast. I think it's safe to say it was the best of any hostel I stayed in durring my 5 weeks in continental Europe.

I arrived here after a 36 hour journey from Dubrovnik, and had to wait 40 minutes to check in while they sorted out the person in front of me whose booking they had lost even though he had booked online and had his printed proof. When it came to me, they gave me a key to my dorm but when I got there every bed was full. Credit to them as they upgraded me to a single room, so I can't complain about that. But it did all seem a bit badly run. It's a bit of a hike to and from the bus stop but it's not that bad. The tv/internet lounge is nice and chilled. The problem with free internet in such a big hostel though is that people hog it and you have to wait hours. Overall a good, clean hostel with friendly staff even if they seem a bit stressed out.

I stayed in this hostel at easter time, and agree with all the other reviews here, it was fantastic! After some problems throughout France before hand, this hostel was exactly what i needed. Yes, it is a hike up the hill, but once you get there, you meet your host, who will do anything to make your stay enjoyable. And it is. Free internet, great living room, yummy brekkie, and for me, a great group of people. I chose to sleep in the chapel, which had about 20 fold up beds in it. My bed was actually on the altar, and while this felt a bit odd, I had the best nights sleep there than anywhere else in france. Bathrooms for the chapel are in a seperate building, but as renevations were going on while we were there, it may be a different story now... the plan was to turn the chapel into a large sitting room. Listen to the advice from your host... we were recommended a walk from Medievil Eze to Seaside Eze, and this hour long journey through the hills was the highlight of my trip!
