Was there this summer and this will be my first adress for the next trip to Stuttgart.
I guess the guy who wrote the article right before me was in another hostel or drunken. This place was one of the cleanest I have ever been though the bathroom is on the floor. The staff down and the reception desk is very friendly and gives you really good insider tips. You can use the kitchen and hang around in the lounge where you can use the wireless net for free. You also can enjoy some good and cheap drinks at the bar which is 24 hours open.
And yes they have a guest book without removed sides!The best is that it takes you just a ten-minute walk to the centre.I had a pleasent stay there and can recommend this place to everybody

Hostel Alex 30 is the WORST hostel I have ever been (for a 32 year old backpacker!). WORST meaning: you MUST pay before even seeing the room or appartment, the sheets are NOT clean (there was human sperm all over), you have to pay for a hand towel (1€), bad towel (3€), the tv-remote control (2€), for watching the tv (2€), for everything WITHOUT being allowed to check the room and what you are paying for before hand. A complain (such as please, give me clean sheets because there is HUMAN SPERM in my sheets) means that you are not allow to stay in the hostel and get NO money back for already PAID nights. You end up in the streets, having paid for a hostel but not allowed to stay. The police has no business to do withit and will not help. All you can do is write a complain to the Justice Ministerium (before 12 am) and since you are not a German resident, it will not be follow. Sincerely, AVOID Hostel Alex 30!!! I have pictures of ALL, the official complain, and for not being allowed to stay after having paid for it!. Contact me for the documentation, I will be glad to share it with others. By the way, the management was rude, unpolite ... and DOES remove critical comments from the guest book. They have NO official complain sheets, and are extremely unproffesional. I have never been in a WORST hostel!!
